What is a logical alternative anyway?

Our bridge club has a listserv where players can discuss topics related to bridge. Recently a newer player came across https://www.larryco.com/bridge-learning-center/detail/77 and was interested to learn that partner's alerts are UI. The resulting discussion evolved into one on what is a logical alternative and whether bids you either think you never would make at the table (or in fact had already decided not to make) or bids you think are clearly wrong (but you might make at the table on a bad day) can be logical alternatives. I'm interested in general thoughts, but also consider the following example (hopefully not *too* bad of one).

You play a natural system with 15-17 NT and nothing conventional over 2H.  If it matters, pretend the form of scoring is IMPs.

Suppose that the 2H bid was made very slowly and you know that with this particular partner that almost always means a three card raise. Suppose also that you believe that bidding 4H on this hand is a clear error, but you believe on a bad day it is an unthinking bid you might make (I know that would never happen to *you*, but suspend disbelief). Under these circumstances

I would always bid 4H regardless of whether or not I had UI
I would never bid 4H regardless of whether or not I had UI
I would bid 4H with UI, but bid something else without UI
I think your example is bad and would never bid 4H with this hand, but maybe if you changed the hand a little
