Hi Jose-Thank you for being in the Well. Was there ever an investigation following the open pairs in Verona relating to the admitted dumping by various Chinese pairs in the last session where the winners averaged over 98% against their countrymen? If not, why?

Coolest thing I ever heard? Tim McCarver calling the all star game-into his booth comes newly elected Obama. He says to Obama-“how cool was it to just meet the great Bob Gibson”? Obama responds-“it doesn't get any better.” That is how I felt when I had my lucky 1/2 hour 25+ years ago.

I played a session with McCarver at the Phili nationals years back. We had a 70+% game, he played very well. Of course my eyes were so fixated on his hands, that had caught the likes of Gibson and Carlton for years. Amazing he could detach a card after those 2 guys.

Very sad. People don't realize what a mischievous side Richie had. When I was 15 I spent the summer living with Richie. He paid me to get his betting sheets in order in the morning, drive him to the track,(park his car a few miles away so he could save $3), place bets for him, and follow horse owners to listen to what they were telling their friends about their chances of winning the race that day. At night I would drive him to the Mayfair bridge club, where they had a $2 imp game. You would draw for partners and play a 4 board match and then compare and redraw. One particular night I played against Richie-we had 3 good boards and then the last hand I had aqj10xxxxx,ax,x,x and it went 1h on my left by Richie-2c on my right-I passed and it went 2nt pass 3nt and vul against nv I courageously bid 4s-it went X-all pass. My partner assured me that after this hand he was gonna beat the shit out of me. The genius put down xx spades and an ace. I won the heart lead and lead the J of spades quickly and it went low, show out. Richie instructed me that if we somehow lost this match that I should really abuse my teammates-1 guy in particular who he pointed out.So I come back to compare and this guy says hes really sorry they had a terrible set. We lost by 2. I told the guy I assumed this was his first time playing bridge and probably he should make it the last. Well, when this guy was done yelling at me I didn't know what world I was in. Turned out he was Ira Rubin, but who knew.
I remember Richie watching and laughing his ass off-with that cute grin he had. There were many other stories but I think I'll let Eugene enjoy his Sunday.

Hey guys-congrats on a great career already. So the obvious question-when either of you do something you are not proud of-and you blame your twin brother-which seems routine–what % of the time can you get away with this? Please elaborate…

So a sticky board in bridge is like a wet board in poker?

Thank you Marion. You have my full support. The amount of damage they have done to honest people who sacrifice so much time and energy to try and compete fairly would be impossible to calculate. They deserve to be out for life-non of this 5 or 10 year nonsense.

So sad I always liked Mike. I played poker against him a few months ago, he played the same way he played bridge. His stack was always very small or very big, he was not a grinder. RIP my fellow Cardinal fan.

Boye-couldn't agree more..the BIT still out there way too much. A mandatory trick 1 break before play would help-we need a rules change-and will speed up the game at the same time. Reporting poor ethics and filling out forms are annoying baby steps we all must take.
