If the idea is to have fun AND give ACBL black points, then American-centric (although East Coast biased) makes sense, EXCEPT you might talk to Tanya R. about ABA participation for their equivalent points. If we want to do worldwide then maybe something leading to online WBF rankings (always fun to have) would be interesting.

Hey folks, while I walked away from the screen after viewing that video, this one from Max in SPANISH with English subtitles came up!

You have what I call a more modern post-Law view. In the old days XX was mandatory with 10+ HCP (NOT “support” points), and tended to deny support but could be a situation where the enemy stepped out with an untimely overcall and “we've got ‘em, pard, what do you want to do?” was the situation. The definition of the redouble was “we play the hand, or they play doubled” and passes of enemy bids were forcing.

I’m not so sure that is the case any more. What happens
1H, (DBL), RDBL, (4S),
Pass, Pass, ???
Is double or bid still mandatory?

What if your partner opens Acol 1x, Ian? Do you adjust XX upward to compensate for a 9 HCP opening?

I'll look again tomorrow. Tnx. I might have to pull out my cards and lay it out. Sometimes that helps me to see this stuff. I spent too much time studying bidding and not nearly enough on play.

If he does that and rho covers with the queen doesn't it still expose a heart return if rho is QTx?

Pitch the club queen and hope no one noticed?
Seriously, you've got me stumped with that. The only thing I might do differently at trick 1 is to play low from dummy, preserving both the ten and nine of spades. Not likely to matter, but it's just kinda habit.

I was just going to recommend Karen look for your work. If it was recorded, can you put a pointer URL here?

How do I stop getting alerts on this and some other threads I no longer wish to follow?

Thanks for taking the time to make and catalog videos of these. As a Linux user I'm not a fan of downloading programs, so watching video is great! Adam thanks for working on the link. It worked for me. Thumbnails didn't load, but probably slow at my end. Clicking on the empty image worked just fine.

There are new video tutorials on this, made by various folks. ACBL maintains a partial list here:

I looked here: http://kantarbridge.com/humor.htm
No joy.
As I recall the story was in a bridge book (too). Fellow died and had to play a hand of bridge perfectly double dummy for his soul. His opponents were demons (today they'd be bots!).
Hope someone finds the reference, it's a nice bridge yarn.
I'd like to have that on a video, told well by someone who has a Television face and a radio voice.

I'll bet you guys are salivating to get back to the trading floor these days! But I guess open outcry is kinda stifled by the 6 foot rule.

I hear there may be a bridge game in Montreal pretty soon. Perhaps we can meet there for a beer and some cards.
