Daniel, please come to this tourney two years later, and I'll ask the organizing committee to HIRE you as a bulletin editor :P

Hi Jeff,

You and Eric have been my idol since you won the 95 Bermuda Bowl in my hometown when I was ten and just learned bridge. Later I talked with you for half an hour during 07 WC, and years later on played against you in Nationals. It's kinda dream come true step by step for me. Thank you for been there!

Here are my questions:
1) What do you think is a good way to inspire partner/teammates during a tournament? Do you have any successful examples?

2) Do you agree that sometimes luck is one of the element in bridge? Do you think it's a good part of the game or not? what's your opinion of the quote“Fortune is always on the side of the strong” applied in the game of bridge?

Nobody submitted a single hand of defense. I am sorry to miss this one which qualified for the prize for sure.

I was ready to write the “I've told you 3NT was the right contract” story under your report if you didn't mention it, but you did :) Nice article Magnus!

BTW, sorry to correct, no school has bridge as a REGULAR curriculum, they have it as an elective activity after regular school time (about 3-5pm Monday to Friday.) Also, not 70 schools having bridge that many in Beijing, it's about 20 or so I think.

Hi Justin, it's fun to talk with you here. My improvised question is: how to stay focusing on every board during a long tournament? Don't tell me Jack Daniels and stay up the whole night, the method only applies to you:) Have fun in the well.

The 2007 BB which held in Shanghai and the 2008 WMSG which held in Beijing were also WC events held in China, and there were not problems like those. I can hardly tell what's wrong with whom…

It is the worst broadcasting of a World Championship since I watched from 2003 BB. Poor networking, faulty operator everyday, no scores and bulletins…I feel no patient to follow the rest of the tournament.

hi Avon, you are initiative and humorous. I've read the terms which I think there is no harm while a foreigner is using it, although I bet even the staff of Ourgame does not know the content in THEIR Terms of Service….

EDIT:

Now, Ourgame has a new English version registration page: (Tip: “Lianzhong” in the page means Ourgame.)

Hi Kit, IMHO, it's nothing about “interest” or even “market” of the company. What they care about is “decency”, especially decency of related officers.

Ourgame is a comprehensive online card games company, it does not make money/keep market by bridge which is just a such small piece of cake, but bridge has its unique world impact such as international events. So they spend money on bridge, buy the decency, and then with the satisfaction of government, they could make more money by their relations.

Base on that logic, they have finished their job. In regard to bridge and audience? They do not even care about bridge. The programmers who make the soft even do not know what is bridge. Not only no interest have they in non-Chinese speakers, but even I am a Chinese speaker, I still feel them inefficient, unprofessional, and disgusting. As I said, I would rather abandon it if I have any alternate choice. As contrasted with, BBO is made by people who love bridge, who really want the game live long, and whom I respect.

About WBF, I definitely agree what Pietro said, it's only about money, though I am wondering why WBF did not require Ourgame fulfill their work on vugraph.

Hi Greg, it says:“Registration success! For your account security, please fill in more account information.” You can click either OK or Cancel, it doesn't matter.

hi Jan, sorry I did not find that the password needs to be 8-15 characters, but it does. I'll add in, thank you. And yes, after you click on register, it's done, you don't need to care about yes or no though there is not a “success” page, just go back to login.

Hi Zach, as far as I know, OurGame is testing a new vugraph website now: http://ourbridge.ourgame.com/index/index.html

One still has to download a software(with English language option) and has a username to login. I don't know whether they will set up a website version, but I hope at least it could be login without any username requirement.

Hi Boye,

I really like your bidding style. Different and aggressive style makes bridge more interesting. So do you have any key of your own about when and how to take a “different” move? e.g you opened 2 with Qxx xxxxxx Ax Ax in the fav. 2nd sit and bid 3NT later to make the very crucial step in the Spingold. Or you just make something “by heart”? :D

Also, I saw someone said this style is like Poker games. The peak players nowadays are more and more playing top bridge like Poker. (Since they are already too good to only play “bridge”) How do you think of this point? Do you think it's good to play more “random” than “solid”?

Many thanks~.~

Hi Eric,

As the most successful bridge player, do you recommend the youth who loves bridge to chose bridge as his/her professional career nowadays and in future?
