Bulliten standard is showing H, I would say standard as normally showing H, but responsive is a very reasonable treatment.

Not sure that is very light, sounds standard.

The only choice I would consider reasonable would be AQTx, however I would want AT LEAST AQJx to do so.

I would not do this, but feels like Michaels should be an option.

I had a hand this last weekend against a good pro-client pair,
xx xxx KQx AJ98x, ALl vul first. (P) 1D 1S X
(XX showing clubs) 3D AP
dummy came down with(I know, they passed?!?!?!)

Partner leads a low club, it goes K, and I win A. I shift to a high spade to pds Q, they cash A, and I see K on my left. Partner leads a third spade, I can ruff low but if partner has 6S then I am likely blowing a trump trick when pd has stiff T or stiff J but that is very unlikely. So I ruff K and shoot back a diamond, they hop A and the table erupts with laughter and says nice Grosvenor coup, I accepted the complements but in truth when I did it just intended it as the right technical play since declarer with 3 spades likely won't guess diamonds right when I ruff K.

Not sure what 3C was, but assuming natural game try it was re-inviting to game. Not sure what the difference between 3D and 3H is.

If it is a RR and you are 4 handed the butler is reasonably accurate, I mean still pretty random. But no more random than imp pairs. It is just fun to see how your scores compare to the room, usually it can be hard to tell which pair produced better results.

You do realize the junior championships aren’t held in China every time? There are suitable events that juniors can afford to play in where they get to compete with all the other best junior players in the world? Even though there might be some suitable events field wise, it isn’t at all the same. For older people that might be true.

The money is as well or more well spent than shipping open, women’s, mixed seniors imo. Great experience, and helps create the next generation of bridge. The junior events especially need funding since obviously the juniors themselves can’t spend thousands to go. Very few juniors like the online championships(including myself).

I have actually changed my mind a little bit, I think all the top players who are eligible should play. Even though it is juniors it is a world championship, designed to create a good competition and not just to get more juniors playing. It really kills the spirit of the event for it to be limited I think.

I think this concept has been approved. I agree about your point for excluding certain top players, but one could argue this same concept with having players like the Rimstedts who are open world champs in U26. I suspect many of these superstars wouldn’t want to play in the U31, but actually think it would be cool to see a US team made of Kevin Dwyer, Shan Huang, Adam Grossack, and Oren Kriegel and more.

In what way? When I played in Croatia, excluding China(which has a decent amount of players that young) I’m not sure there were more than 5 players 12 or younger, likely less.

I’m not sure that is a correlation, and it is certainly not true they have loads, in the US we have 3 teams entered for U16, and at the worlds the smallest category I think.(not sure between U16 and women’s). I’m not sure whether U31 is a good idea or not, I certainly know it will keep some players going longer. But the 13 category is certainly a poor choice right now, hopefully in 5-10 years there will be more U13 players and we can reconsider.
