You make the claim that “2 think it’s business as usual the heck what the COC says”. This is completely untrue and we have repeatedly said this throughout this thread. We were told by the people running the event that it is w/l. And asked for the COC but denied. All 3 teams “knew” it as win/loss because that is what had been said(at least to us) and the director didn’t say otherwise. The people at our district have been disagreeable and unreachable when we make a point they can’t counter, I understand why Kitty and Steve wouldn’t want to deal with that. No reason to bring up Art’s district, even if you disagree with him.

Yeah, I would be happy to replay it(with your team too if you wanted). But it seems unrealistic scheduling wise.

Ok, I should have some restraint. It is just sad to me that he tells me that he thinks we got lucky to win. I felt that we had some luck go our way and the other way. We fought really hard for this, being down almost all day and then when I wake up for my birthday I found out this was reversed.

Weishu, I would’ve been scared if your team had qualified, you guys play tough!

Ok, first of all, if you had the right to appeal, so do we, so of course the scores can be changed when we left the winners. Please tell me the “error” in their calculation. How come when we tell them the scale being used is wrong they ignore us, but when you do they instantly adjust the result. Another claim you’ve made is that we are “gathering sympathy” in public forum. This claim is wildly untrue. We don’t want sympathy, we want others to know this crazy situation so it doesn’t happen again. Also, we want the public’s opinion on this debacle and maybe some suggestions of how this should be handled.

He did, and sent it to John Kissinger and so did I. But John replies saying he thinks it is unfair for someone to get more vps for winning by 3. And recently it is in the acbls hands.

We were lucky to win the match?!?! We got unlucky all day, what about the 90% grand our teammates bid that you guys missed and it went down. If you knew this was victory points I wish you would’ve told us that.

Ellis, I agree that it should reflect the amount of boards played. But why this 30 board scale, anyone would agree that a fractional vp scale is more accurate (such as the national scale) and we easily win, or it seems much more fitting to use the 30vp scale that gives an edge to the team that’s winning, it only seems fair that winning should get some bonus. Secondly it doesn’t require it to represent the amount of boards played and the COC doesn’t state this. So legally they have no argument(imo).

Yeah, if it was done in vps a team losing both matches could go through, LOL.

I’m afraid that we still lose by 1 vp even with the score adjustment, we beat Hiestand by 12 and Gupta by 3. They beat Hiestand by 17. This scale is kinda crazy though, in a 3 way how can winning by 3 and 12 be worse than losing by 3 and winning by 17, even in total imps we win…

Hi Debbie, there were halftime scores in imps up on the monitor, the previous day they had the halftime scores converted to vps so if this was intended to be scored that it seems they halftime scores should be in vps. No victory point scale was posted, the original scale was legal but then the tourney organizer agreed with the change to a scale where winning by 3 is counted as a tie because he didn’t think it was fair to for a team to get more vps for winning by 3. Nobody has contested that it said we won on the screen and we were given many congratulations. Originally it was posted on live that we won, but a member of the other team didn’t think the scale was fair so the director instantly changed it. We were never given any notice from the director or tourney organizer that this had been adjusted even though we have the right to appeal. According to Rick and Phil Clayton (who have both played it many times) 3 years ago it was scored by whoever won both, even though the COC have not changed. It means a lot to have a great player like you commenting on our article :).
Thanks

There is, the 30 board 20 vp scale. But I think this is the only one that we lose on.

Weishu was on a different team with Leo Bell and Joe Kivel and Warren Cederborg. I was hoping they qualified since they are all super nice guys.

I can understand the other one being penalty(although disagree, 1H- 1NT- P-P-2H-X?) but this one seems very clearly t/o

Just so it is clear, we team A beat team C by 12 and team B by 3. Team B beat C by 17. I don’t consider 17 to be a wide margin if 12 is narrow

No they wanted to play A, from what I’ve heard(just based on Ellis saying that). I am still hopeful that the result will be fixed, some new information has come to light from the kindness of one of the team members on the other team.
