Sectionals typically use a cheaper playing site, like churches bridge clubs etc. and is typically run more locally which tends to be cheaper.

I mean the hands happen to fit quite well so grand is cold, but imo the west hand doesn't really have enough to quantitate to grand, and east has 24 but Qx so not enough to uprade to 25-27 or so

The reason I think it is unlikely is because the normal auction would go 2c- 2h- 2nt -4nt- 6nt. Or rather 2c 2h 2nt 6nt

Grand is possible but unlikely, w 100 pct E 0 pct, this is because East has no other reasonable actions and West should easily bid 4nt after transferring

I don’t believe in ending local bridge! My point is that a small local regional isn’t really TOO much different than a sectional(besides the length). That is still competitive bridge but it is not losing as much money, and people that do want to play in a stronger tournament can maybe go a little further to find a regional. Let’s say we have 30 regionals a year unless you live in the complet middle of nowhere there should be a regional within a few hours.

My idea wasn’t really 12 a year, I was thinking two a month and 1 regional during the months with a national.

Just to clarify how the play went at my table, I won CA at trick one played a diamond towards the Q it won, I drew three rounds ending in hand and played another diamond toward the J which won, now I had to decide whether to play a diamond or the HQ, I find the play of the HQ hard to find in practice because the finesse is given up on. To make it to where declarer still has Entry’s to hook the heart seems slightly double dummy. Still a cool position though.

First of all not sure if robots play carding lol, but they played 2 3, also yes you do have to play diamonds before drawing 3 rounds

Can’t people play in club games because they like playing bridge?

Calling the director is fine, but AFTER the auction. Another problem one may face with club directors is many of them don’t know how to direct! I recently played a local club game and there was a clear hesitation on defense with a singleton and she didn’t even know that that’s not allowed!

What does the 1 or 2 mean after the year?

Like it certainly isnt the “worst play I've ever seen” but it was bad. The player might've fallen asleep for a moment and done this.

I have reasonable clubs but they are behind the opener, and I would never go out of my way to defend a doubled partscore. I have 4h so I'll bid my suit and hope for the best.

I don’t know why the south hand would go out of their way stop below their 25+ pointsgame with their good(besides that you have a void in pds suit) 15 count. North might’ve bid more but they have a minimum for their bid with an ugly shape.

First of all it is in no way “clear” for east not to bid 3nt, what is clear is that 6nt is a massive overbid.

Then what is the point of having masterpoints? Already they are just a combination of how much you play and how good you are. But instead of a “participation award” why don’t people just forget about masterpoints and play bridge for fun. Although, it can be important to have a way of seeding events so the ACBL should create a real rating system.
