George I couldn’t agree more however has Geoff points out where were we when they had this thread on Bw? I suspect George myself and many others haven’t grasped the fact that bridge winners is the site of USBF policy decisions. This is why I asked Jan to but a comment in the daily bulletins do everyone would be more aware of this. Jan has but a comment on the bulletins and hopefully more of us will join future discussions. We may have to revisit some issues as the result may have been different had there been more of us involved.

After reading these comments I think two things are clear: we don't want these cheaters around, and we don't all agree on the proper way to achieve this.
I recently hd to play a Vandy match against a legally readmitted cheater .A thread on BW suggested we not play the match. As a pro who had a contract for the cycle ,I didn't think that itbwas my decision> I chose to honor my contract and the conditions of contest. I did however, wear two anti-cheat buttons which clearly made my opens uncomfortable. He play the whole nationals and to my knowledge I was his only opens to do so. The right approach to me is to make it as uncomfortable as we legally can for them to play. While not playing in the vent is certainly a viable option, I believe entering and refusing to play will be ineffective and is committing a violation, though I do admire those who do it. The result will be that they get to advance and the protesters get punished.

One last point, I saw many top U.S. players go up to him and exchange pleasantries. I think those who did that lose their right to complain. Either don't enter the event or lets provide a unified effort to make so they won't want to play. Treat them like they deserve to be treated ,WITH NO RESPECT!

Gavin ,what you allege is certainly not true for our team. DB,WS,MB and myself all showed up at the bridge club ready to play. When no other team showed up we even stayed there and practiced for several hours.

It’s a good story … not true but good story. The district cordinator determined there was no emergency and Gavin was not an eligible substitute because he didn’t qualify at the club level. It had nothing to do with who is a better player. They did kick our butts but they only had three eligible players .

There are far to few people like Carolyn in this world. Classy is an underbid. Condolences to all of her family though we all are the losers here.

Thank you Peter for saying what a lot of us were thinking. Cheating is the murder of bridge. I do think Alex and Joseph handled it in a more dignified way, however, the punishment for cheating should be a lifetime ban. Perhaps after five years they could be able to reapply and then we can consider the special circumstances and perhaps allow those who have confessed and atoned back in. Let's start with a lifetime ban for all .

Perjury? That would be lying under oath in a court of law, when did that happen?

I applaud the decision of the Israeli team. While I am sure the decision was not easy you guys have stepped up to the plate big time. While other gestures have been extended, such as offers to vacate titles, you guys hit the ball out of the park. It is very easy for everybody to write what you should do but, not nearly as easy as to do it. I sincerely hope you guys get another opportunity and hope you all win a world championship. You guys deserve it!

Hooray for Tom and Peter! We can write about what the federations should do and debate all we want about how they are doing it,but, the solution is right in front of us. Don't hire them don't play with them. Let's stop passing the blame around and just say no to cheaters.

Mark the problem with reducing the mp I. Ko's is the only choice is to play half or the hole match. It is hard to ask anyone let alone sponsors who,are not use to,to play every board. When they reduced awards in Swiss teams it made some sense because sponsors could play incremental amounts. The proposal seems punitive in nature and as others pointed out is not in the ACBL's best interest.

More than one way. Ruff spade lead heart nine which must be covered cash two diamonds and run clubs. As I said in original comment a spade lead will take away the luxury of the safety play and I would not expect anyone to make it….but ….

You did say one of the six, which leads me to lean towards Peter.A similar record to Eddie but former what sets him apart is a open world title. They might both deserve to get in but the open world championship in my mind sets Peter apart from the other five
