Give me the 10 and I'll open 1…it's that close – pass for now.

6x is my resting place as well. And don't see any way to confidently bid 7 – nor would I want to be in it for the reasons Yuan mentions.

This deal also highlights the preemptive qualities of a 2!N opening. Both when it's your hand – and when it's not. I'm curious how many top experts would open 2!N.

I thought 5-7 is more likely unless pard has some spectacular 's.

Also, any equity in the likely club lead? If pard is a 1570, someone will be tearing their A up.

Something as modest as x Kxxxx Axxxxxx void would go though unless 4-0 trumps or 4-1 's.

Mostly, I was not confident with what my doubled showed…I could imagine I would do the same with something like
KQxxx A10xx x KJx (or perhaps that bids 3N?)

When I made the dbl I was not convinced it was penalty – I chose it becuase it seemed the most flexable bid available.

Do you also pass 3H/S from partner?

Also, what are the chances pard knows what to do after you do anything other than pass?

Well, I vote I'm trying to make it – though, “pounding down A & K” is not the way to do it…

Use your “hold it to down one” play – it is far superior in producing 5 trump tricks.

I agree it is sometimes an adventure when a TD comes to the table. Reminds me of gym class when they pick your dance partners for the semester – I don't think that poor girl ever got over my fox trot.

Greg Please, put it away – you will scare the children.

The 1-2 2-way shenanigans came up exactly 0 times in 6 sessions. We ran out of jokes whilst prealerting – which, is extremely disheartening considering how funny Yuan and I are.

I remember having this auction 1-2!N-3!N passed out. Dummy tabled a 4234 13-count and the very expert/foreign opps had a chuckle and asked what 2N was – “balanced GF.”

You have limited options over 1 if you want to make the change in GCC land – “SINGLE OR HIGHER JUMP SHIFTS AND/OR NOTRUMP BIDS AT THE
TWO LEVEL OR HIGHER to indicate a raise or to force to game”

They do a really good job making this as cryptic as possible. For me, it seems the 2 bid is acceptable, it's a raise in D's or NT's but alas, why were we prealerting it in a MC event if it is GCC legal???

You are left with checking that box “except when suit rebid,” but xing out the suit rebid and putting 2N in its place – showing balanced invite via 1 2 2popsicle 2N. Then you just need to hash out a few agreements about what openers rebids promise.

Do you find not being able to bid 2x naturally, when 1x is a minor , a problem?

Yes – Getting in the picture is important if righty is being a wise guy, but are you concerned that it might get passed out?

I trashed the poll right after making it because I realized the real question (as John and Yehudit also attest)is what are we bidding 4!N on – and that is a simple partnership agreement.

Once we know those requirements the bid is simple.

Found a nice way for exclusivity though – only followers can see the post :)
