Jim and I used to have conventions for insufficient bids but in the ACBL it is not longer legal to have conventional meanings for such bids.

Great seeing stories about you guys, I miss the bridge dynamics we had playing against you and with you when I lived in florida really helped develop my game back then.

Partner prob has some sort of 4225 10-12 count and basically doesn't want to get shafted in 1nt. he could even be a 4216 or something like that.

I have seen some of my partners 3 seat openershe had other options just because you are a max for your bid doesn't mean partner even has a full opener.

Other table ended up in 2 after my hand doubled for penalty, 2 was down 1. 1NT ended down 4 when we squeezed declarer. Only 4 small spades on dummy so it wasn't a pretty time after partner cleared diamonds and returned a spade.

I thought about overcalling a NT but the stiff club just left a sour taste in my mouth.

So leading the A or K can be right if you switch to a low diamond but beating the contract isn't certain because you have lost a little tempo. Winning lead was a small diamond either 7 or 3 due to being able to establish partners j10xxxx in the suit. Dummy had Kx and declarer had Qx. If you lead a heart or a club declarer has enough time to run to 7 tricks because you don't have enough time to knock out your A.

North should really take a 4 after 4, he has both red aces a and the K and enough club length to make it so that they should have a 9 card fit which can make up for a lack of honor in the suit. Though we don't know south agreed range for 3 rebid after forcing 1NT I would take a small strech and bid it anyway.

Great story, I am trying to convince my kids elementary school to let me teach them barbu 1 day a week in an effort to get them up to bridge level. Thinking barbu for 4th graders and maybe leave out one of the complicated games till 5th grade and lead that into mini bridge.

I am a big fan of getting both majors in if my heart suit had been weaker I would have been more in favor but I feel like the 1 over for even lead purposes needs to be bid. Make the A the A and I would double because there isn't a clear preference for the heart overcall.

I don't really have many words to describe this loss but he was always a joy to play against the few times I had to privilege when I lived in florida.

I have had the issue a few times, I recall we played one board of the final match and took a 3 imp penalty on the rest of the boards.

Correct 2 for us shows 3 small or like Kx partner would have to bid 3 to show a real spade raise after 2. I wouldn't call it the best system but we like to know our good vs bad raises.

My district did a two session swiss, where you played everyone. If you were in the top 4 your qualified for the next day and if you were you were out. There was debate whether those 4 teams play two head to head matches or they should be allowed to play another round robin to determine the winner. I would prefer another round robin so everyone gets to play.

I know some pairs that play this as showing 3 card heart support and denying 3 card spade support because of the 2/1 forcing auction. To me I am just promising 5 diamonds and 4 clubs now and giving partner another chance to show his shape or bid 3nt.

We have a whole separate issue of we post announce forcing 1nt bids that partner can have extremely weak or stronger then normal bids with no fit and no 5 card suit through forcing nt as well.

If I made the bid with 4 card support I either bid a weak 3 bid or a bid a forcing nt and a 2 bid with like 2 points, those are my only two options for showing a weak hand with any support. Otherwise const or limit raise goes through bergen and gave forcing goes through Jacoby 2nt.
