Simply said he was a lovely guy who never had a bad word to say about anybody. He will be greatly missed in not only the bridge world, but by all the others he knew too. My deepest condolences to Clive, Margaret and all the rest of the family at this awful time.

Congrats on your recent success, perhaps your bridge is now rated (nearly) as high as your partying! We had Maria and Nadia over for the Acol Pairs this weekend, which was great fun. Perhaps we can get you to London next December and finally start drinking some tequila ;-)

Did they do the right thing and donate this to their squad leader? ;-)

I would certainly not have asked for a ruling. We should be making every effort to offer a friendly and enjoyable environment for all inexperienced (but especially youth players) who will be the future of the game. If I found out when scoring up my teamates had called and got a ruling, I would be telling them to go back and concede the contract. Getting any result in this circumstance would just feel a bit dirty, but that's just my opinion and I am sure others will disagree.

I play going through 2C and bidding 3n (Or 2N) over 2D shows 5332, and bidding 2D over 1N denies 5332. Also if the auction goes 1m-1M-1N-2C-2D-2M partner now knows responder has a 4cd minor+ on the side.

I wouldn't open 3C as with these Major holdings, I may make a Major suit game which may be missed if I open 3C

I was dummy and felt the 10 was clearcut. As not only Kit's point, but LHO doesn't know declarer isn't ajx or that he may have 4 tricks against 3N and 5d has 11 tricks. Ducking the King seemed very improbable to me, so I thought I would see what bridgewinners community thought. My partner felt that LHO would duck the club in the hope it was a guess position as 3N making or with overs was likely to be a bad board for them.
