I think it more suggests that responders hand pattern is only 5 spades, without a club stopper and no second suit. Strength ciuld be a big variable depending on oartnership agreements. Ergo there might be more of a question of a follow up bid, if opener only had 2 spades.

Look for Past NABC's Polling Techniques, there is an explanation of how polls are to be conducted. It is right next to the Casebooks for previous NABC's.

I have told this event before in another thread.
Playing mps at a friday afternoon sectional in Portland OR about twenty years ago, I held
Void
AKQJT9
AKQxxxx
Void
in 4th seat the auction went p-p-p-7hearts passed out.
Out came a diamond lead and ruff by my opponent. She held a 5-3-0-5 ten count in 3rd seat and did not open the bidding most of the other tables got to use a michaels bid to transfer declarer to the safe seat.

If the player can identify other hands as well, and the director can confirm, then play should stop. However, there are times when a player says I have played this hand before, and if turns out not to be the case, therefore, play should continue until confirmation that the hand has been played before.

You will be in Atlanta, I think Diet Coke comes in the water faucets, as oppose to hot and cold, it goes coke or diet.

There is no need to appeal. Law 23C allows the director to change the result, if the director at the end of play, determines, the offending side has gained a favorable result that could not have been achieved without assistance gained from the infraction. (My paraphrase)

How about North bid 3 diamonds? First chance instead of negative double.

I once held void AKQJT9 AKQxxxx void in an Friday afternoon sectional in Portland OR, in 4th chair. It went pass pass pass to me, after thinking a bit how to bid the hand, I decided it was matchpoints and opened 7 hearts. Out came a diamond lead and RHO who held a 5-5 10 count in the blacks but did not open, ruffed. A lot of pairs were able to Michael's the hand to other side making, quite often doubled at the 6 or 7 level.
My definition of unlucky.

One trick I have learned, to help get by in smaller odd board webs, and to minimize board duplication. With one set containing 36 boards I make boards 1-28, boards 29-32 are made as 13-16, boards 33-36 are made as boards 1-4.

For the year following my 53rd birthday, I decided to have 3 jokers in my wallet, no problems with the TSA yet. I'll let you know if I have any problems getting to DC tomorrow morning.

If I raise to game, after partner has signed off, I was trying for a slam.

My apologies, a club director was conferring with me about a directors call they had in a non-open game MP game (bronze and lower silver life masters are allowed to play). This poll was to see what the logical alternatives might have been, after Alice went down the rabbit hole. Trust me, unlike Paul Harvey you don't want to know the rest of the story.

As somebody who flies into Denver once or twice a year, I am more worried about thunder storms in other seasons. Denver was built with snow in mind, from what I read, it takes a full scale blizzard to shut down the airport.

Failing to double 7nt with an ace on lead is not a serious mistake. Over twenty years ago in a District GNT team event, a player with an Ace on lead did double and woke partner up, who then proceeded to lead out of turn, contract making.

Good question, that information was not given to me. I would believe non-forcing constructive.
