I've seen four taxi drivers playing Bridge while they are waiting for clients.

2! Alternatively 3, or even 5 :). I agree completly with Yuan Shen: Save a few exceptions (and it seems to me that this hand doesn't look like to be one of them) when you hold the balance of power, leading a trump decreases the opponents playing streght - “at any level”!

May be both North's players “still see no justifications” for your comments about their biddings :)
In my opinion they knew perfectly what they are doing- “What” and “Why”!

All Bridge players are very happy that Israel and other countries are producing more and more “very good Bridge players”. However, as this article is about Spingold we shall finish with these “private” comments and send our best congratulations, especially to the winners. Both teams did the best they could have done (It was an enthralling match) and I think we can't fault their performance in any way - for sure they will do it and…much more better than us!

Don't worry Ben. As soon as posible I will undertake “in loco” an extensive evaluation. (Tel Aviv Two Clubs Club). :)

Why did they bid 7? Obviously: Each N-S pair knew that in the other room they would bid 7!
By the way: I'd guess that most of the local players where I play would be only in 4. :)

It seems to be a close decisión between pass and any other bid, in this situation (Mp and a 4th position double). If we won 3/4 , probably we score 300 or 500 in 2 X. Completly different would have been the situation in IMPs: First I would have bid anything and “after I would think a few”… :)
As I voted for pass (only 8% of “public answers”)I would like to know my pd's hand:)

Pass is for “chicken players” :); Double for open minds :) (partner can have 5 and singleton); finally 3 (Steve's statment):)usually promises a 6 card suit.
By the way: A very instructive hand!

My good Diamonds, the Clubs Ace, the faith I have in my partner as declarer and the vulnerability (in these situacions I always bid at the edge) “order” me to bid 3NT.

The problem here is not to offer a trick to declarer. In view of the dummy I will have time to decide wich will be the best attack. So as I early learned with one of my best partners, 20 or more years ago, in these situacions: First lead trumph and after “think a few”! Clubs Ace could be a good alternative in order to try to reduce dummy's trumphs. In this way he could lost hand control.
