That's why I asked question to see how many would pass or bid. He did ask another world class player who stated would pass in this situation.

I thought redouble by me(opener) would be the equivalent of a hand that would rebid 2N which is what we play if they bid a suit and passed back to opener although not specifically discussed over double.

Actually at table partner stated transfer when I bid 4D. I bid 6D down 1 off A of trump and Ace of spades. I expected 6D would be bid made by most with no UI so that is what I bid.

David, Many opponents have stated ruff with the x when x is not in the trump suit and have allowed them to change. Based wording you stated above implies if that x card exists in another suit they are forced to play it. This not seem correct to me. However I believe in this example the t should be played.

I believe though I may be incorrect that the boards used at the NABCs are only used by the ACBL at the NABCs. again I expect that some boards may only be used 2 or 3 times at a NABC which would imply 6-9 times per year. Obvious the cards being used in a swiss where they are being shuffled every round would have more wear on them than others. Not sure this is a valid resolution to an issue. Let director know when a deck needs replacing.

I passed either opponents really had clubs and this may be best spot or they made mistake and I would make a lot of tricks. I make 7(diamond finesse was on) +1180 but lost board/match when opponents bid to 6C and teammates sacrificed in 6S going for 1400 as opposed to 1390 that 6clubs would make.

I asked director(before I knew result at other table) that I lost ability to get to 6 clubs. Ruling was everyone would pass 2C X whether it was explained as clubs or something else.

As it turned out with spades 32 Honor on side and hearts 3-3 6 spades made. I bid 6C not sure what 5S was asking since 3S would be forcing and I would quebid over that.

What happens to cards that are used only for one NABC since they would be replaced at the next NABC. Possibly some would only be played 2 or 3 times then discarded. Seems like a very large expense to force upon ACBL. Although I agree sometimes playing cards are around longer than they should be.

If I am playing feature ask then my suit should be decent. 2 of top 3 3 of top 5(not QJT) so should have good play. If we open bad suits then we would be playing ogust.

Playing 2/1 when I open 1D and the opponents bid 2D I always ask since on there were a couple of occasions where they were playing some top bottom type quebid and we missed our major suit game. Yes I thought it highly unusual that this cuebid did not show majors but that is the rules.

Double Penalty. Many bid here since you will never penalize them when you have 9 card fit with as little as AKx looking for lead

Thanks for input partner passed. I held
AQxxxx
x
x
AQxxx

and bid 5S which was doubled down 1 with Kxxx Ax AKxxx xx
behind me.

I thought without any controls and with only 3 spades double was better choice since absolute minimum for hand so far

After righty plays the 7 there are only 8 hand combinations left with righty holding the 7.

Correct to go up with K after righty played the 7
A76 Q
A7 Q6

Correct to finesse
AQ76
AQ7 6
Q76 A
Q7 A6

Losing 2 tricks so doesn't matter
7 AQ6
76 AQ

So 4 out of 6 possibilities after righty plays the 7.
2:1 you should take finesse. Exactly same odds as when you began with 16 hand combos.

- 67QA Lose
6 7QA Lose
7 6QA Lose
Q 67A W since q shows up
A 67Q Lose
67 AQ Lose
6Q A7 Finesse
6A Q7 Play K
7Q A6 Finesse
7A 6Q Play K
QA 67 W since Q will show 1st or 2nd time
67Q A Finesse
67A Q Play K
6QA 7 Finesse
7QA 6 Finesse
67QA - Finesse

6 combos finesse is correct. 3 Play the K would work where there is a choice. Again 2:1 correct when there is a choice. Assuming that when stiff Q or AQ on side both will work and no decision in play. So if you do not take finesse it is actually a 2:1 bad decision ignoring the 5 that always lose and the 2 that will always win.

6 finesse + 2 always win is 8 out of 16 for 50% Q is on side.
3 Play the K +2 always win is 5 out of 16 for 31.25% as some have stated above for probability of will it work but does not properly take into account the combos that always win or always lose.

My partner was not inexperienced. This was case where defender said something assuming declarer heard it and then gave rest of explanation of standard carding. I knew that defender thought declarer heard both but I knew that was not the case.

I was actually commenting on there was one time at nationals where you were not allowed to bring phone in playing area for NABC events. They had area outside where you could leave phone for a small fee. When I returned to Hotel after event and realized that I did not have my phone thankfully was still playing next day and retrieved it the next day. Seemed like a very silly idea to me and I believe it did not last very long.

When you go to the nationals look at the space between tables where the screens are in play. Then imagine how much more room would be required if all events were run this way. Imagine playing a regional event and all pairs were playing the same boards barometer style. You would need to more than double the playing area. It's bad enough when you hear a discussion of a board you will be playing later in session let alone while pulling the cards out of the board.

Obviously there are some players that want to cheat. If we did numerous checks to try to deter the cheating the players that wanted to cheat would try to find a way. Do I believe I could cheat if I wanted to. Yes. Do I want to. No. Do I think we should try to find the cheaters. Yes. Don't bring your phone in the playing area. Waste of time when I can walk outside at any time and freely look at phone since I play quite fast. Yes would be nice if all games were Barometer style and wait until everyone finishes until you start next round. Would greatly increase the time required to play and frustrate the players who play relatively fast. Sometimes I play team games and finish in half the time of my teammates(I do play to fast) but to wait after each board until teammates finish would be torturous compared to present scenario.
