I happened to be kibitzing a table about 3 tables when the laughter started. I thought he has an excellent article to write and in fact saw this post before I looked at bulletin knowing what it was going to be about. Usually need to call director several times and get one to come here they just kept showing up to see what was going on.

Actually disagree with this. One of my early teams my partner led an ace against 6N Dummy had KJ of the suit and now had 12 tricks. At other table needed a trick in this suit and finessed the J for down 1. When we compared we won on 5 of the boards but lost match on this board and my teammate who led Ace stated it was cold if you just played the K(which it was). Seems like a bad way to form team harmony if goal to switch blame to teammates.

They actually have created poker tables where one can sit and see all opponents and use a tablet screen. They lower the table rake since they do not have to pay a dealer. These have not proven to be successful. People like the feel of the cards in their hands.

Nat when I am North I enter the contract and opening lead and play the cards as I am told. I frequently ask how many are made at the end since as dummy I do not pay attention as much as I should. I expect this is true in most cases when someone is dummy.

Well since half the pairs that are now performing worse we are not going to assume that they cheated in the past the only logical conclusion is the other half who are now performing better must be cheating.

I've had 41% 71% same day in a sectional. The implication should not be made off of 1 tournament.

I believe ACBL allows until start of next session to make corrections so this correction was within the correction period. If someone emailed you a correction a week later would you make this change.

What ?? EW will enter correct declarer but NS won't. This assumes when NS enters declarer EW approves incorrectly but EW enters and NS does not get to verify?? Obviously all NS and EW could enter the data correctly. My 16 year old has been given the duty of entering scores and made no mistakes in the 3 sessions he entered, Eventually he will get to the point where he assumes he is doing everything correctly and makes mistakes like the rest of us. There is a penalty when you pull incorrect bid out of bidding box, give some sort of penalty when entering scores (1/2 of board or such ) and maybe we will get it right.

I believe this is the most common error discovered by the majority of players since it is easy to see when all the results are posted next to each other. I estimate wrong direction is probably about a 3rd of the errors I find when going over. This includes the Howell where we occasional sit the wrong way.

Although I like this comment. I expect that no one would ever turn in a correction if this was the case not because of less errors but because they do not want to be disqualified.

Obviously the errors that we are talking about can be found 24 hours later and possibly the directors would not need to talk to players involved.

The finals I am expecting started 12-15 hours after semifinal complete. How would one handle a corrections after finals have started,

Presently they have pairs from same countries play each other early to reduce possibility of throwing a board. If corrections was a 2nd place pair whose regular teammates who they played in the first round found that they had incorrectly scored a board I expect that majority would be complaining that they can't make a change that late.

(How many of us are willing say something about the error level of the scoring at all bridge levels? 2016?)

Same level of errors for I expect the last 15 years since electronic scoring came into play.

I agree when I see both sides make 3N when double dummy neither can make 1 not sure how/what algorithm should be used. Seems like players need to take responsibility to score correctly. Maybe rule suggested elsewhere that if you input/accept an incorrect score no increase in matchpoints(just decrease as appropriate). Not sure if this will just cause less review of results since your score can't increase.

Why is the obvious stuff more important. Although typically more match points in play in these scenarios.

Wouldn't the people who played the board be a lot better at this. They would know if 1N making 1 was scored the wrong way and an outside observer wouldn't. Yes the obvious errors would be found but when they played 2 making 4 scored as 4 making 4 how would an outside observer know.

I randomly picked boards. A few did not comment on since they looked like no issue. NS always played 4H or 4S and occasionally clubs played by EW but did not go thru boards in any particular order.

Probably when they give an adjustment on a board or one less pair play that board compared to others.

Jonathan after randomly checking results in another thread, the number of input errors is tremendous. Not sure why one where TD's could/should have corrected it but didn't should be changed but other errors where a TD would have no knowledge to correct should not.

They “won” based on the rules of the event which happened to include an unfortunate board result.

I won't even go into the questions of leading pairs checking or not checking the scores. One comment mentioned that in at least one session, Roy turned in a score correction to his advantage. The seventh session? We'll never know and it is not relevant.

The pair they played who found this error after the fact stated if I read it correctly that they did not check results after this session implying they checked at other times.

Monday Sept 12 round 4 board 1.
Both NS and EW play NT
NS 6- 9 tricks making
EW 4- 8 tricks making

Several of the same leads are made against opposite directions. 4H lead against 1N by both E and S. Expect possibility of wrong side errors on this board but cannot confirm from data supplied.

Well when entering data if one does not care about accuracy of opening lead and one does not care about accuracy of declarer (if NS or EW) then adding something that makes these all errors found by someone who when then come to you to validate or give error when you enter on bridge mate so that you have to reenter correctly then you would have a lot more time constraints to worry about.
