Wow, just when Sabine & Roy had me convinced that this pair was unjustly accused.

I'll never doubt you again, Boye!

Someone woke up on the wrong side of bed this morning.

I thought your comment was perfectly innocuous and pertinent, Wayne.

Mah shoes!

Sure, it's kinda like that. Except it's 4 people (out of a population of a few hundred) who put bombs in their shoes and who knows how many others who are doing lord knows what.

Speaking of ‘not bridge,’ imo NOT KNOWING who broke tempo because of a SCREEN is ‘not bridge.’

Part of playing bridge well is playing in tempo or having one's partnership suffer the consequences of UI.

Or we'd just have another study.

I LOVE this idea. I'm also okay with the same idea with all 4 people at the same table as long as it's set up so you can't see your partner.

You can cheat at bridge with hidden agreements. The best way to detect (after the fact) hidden agreements is to get all the spots right & most vugraph operators (understandably) find it impossible to do that consistently.

The educational value of Vugraphs would leap enormously.

Then there's the slow play issue.

And the break-in-tempo issue.

And what are we fighting to keep? The ability to exchange contagious diseases with each other? You can STILL do that AFTER the session!

Say, for example, one partner is significantly more experienced than the other & you'd like to do a little ‘teaching’ while you play. Not on every card, or every bid, or even every hand, but from time to time.

Now that *I* know the identity of the 3rd pair, that the third pair will not be named to anybody else, without evidence, means that our new system is working!

Disclaimer: This is meant to be humorous and I'm saying it tongue-in-cheek about how people generally might see the situation and not about any person in particular.

I didn't intend to ‘rag on Eugene’ at all and I don't appreciate the implication.

I was asked by Gavin to justify my wording and subsequently I did so. We're really heading down the rabbit hole here.

Are we seriously quibbling about whether such a statement by the main moderator here qualifies as ‘seemingly with the blessing of BW’? C'mon now. Just say ‘Fair point’ and move on, please.

It's because Eugene was active in the subthread.

I don't detect a hint of remorse or of empathy for those who were cheated for so many years.

I must have skipped the section where he offered to renounce the titles he's won with Fantunes.

I'm not sure how someone wanting to play in the BB ‘really badly’ changes an ‘easy decision’ into something else.

I don't understand the bit (justifying radio silence) about the ‘official statement’. The only ‘official statement’ I've read is a post by Bridge Winners that they've withdrawn. Was there more to the official statement than ‘We’re withdrawing from the Bermuda Bowl.'?

I also missed the part where he wished the Danes well.

I think he had a lot he could have ‘added to the conversation,’ but didn't. But I could be wrong, I often am.

I applaud Sabine's sentiment and her condemnation of those who insinuate things that they can't support with facts. I don't mean to be argumentative but is the statement ‘Such and such a pair is one of 3 pairs on a list of pairs that the majority of bridge experts believe to be cheating.’ fair game or not?

If this pair was ALREADY presumed guilty by ‘a majority of bridge experts’ then perhaps they ought to welcome the opportunity to be exonerated.

And for the record, I know nothing of this pair, only that Josh Donn publicly mentioned them (without identifying them) on a list & that Ovunc identified them to me (and many others) via PM, seemingly with the blessing of BW at the time.

Mr. Ryman, I think he is referring to the defunct political party that sought to protect Sweden's “Western genetic and cultural legacy.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Party_of_the_Swedes
