I am sometimes tempted to create a thread out of random unrelated thoughts and misspelled names, but I somehow manage to resist the urge.

Hopefully they heed this horrific wake-up call.

Here's some (mixed-quality) photo evidence of my adventure (for the non-squeamish):

Hi Kaya,

I see teen homelessness, teen violence and teen suicide as symptoms of much (MUCH) bigger issues. I also cringe at attempts to put one class of homeless teens (or suicidal teens) in competition (for resources/attention) with another class. YMMV

Poland ruined the Bermuda Bowl by their selfish decision to participate. There's no fixing it now.

'Oh but they won anyway.'

Yes, and the Israelis or the Monacans or the Germans might have won anyway too. But they didn't go. Because they have class and respect for the game.

Trollish thread titles are meh. That's one area where the admins around here could stand to tighten up a bit.

If we're going with a GN'R theme, I'd pick two BETTER GN'R songs (November Rain drags a bit imo):

Before Boye bridge was:

Welcome to the Jungle

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1tj2zJ2Wvg

After Boye, bridge has the potential to be:

Paradise City

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rbm6GXllBiw

“Take me down to the paradise city where the bridge is clean and the girls are pretty.”

If we're talking about songs about paranoia, my vote would go to one of my all-time favorites, Flagpole Sitta by Harvey Danger.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbeBJPbZiOY

“Paranoia, paranoia
Everybody's coming to get me
Just say you never met me
I'm running underground with the moles (digging holes)
Hear the voices in my head
I swear to God it sounds like they're snoring;
But if you're bored, then you're boring.
The agony and the irony: they're killing me (whoa).”

As for my apparent lack of empathy, since that was brought up, I empathize primarily with the most helpless and most voiceless of all: future generations. I ask myself if we're leaving the world a better place for them, not whether some guy in drag is a hero or not.

David has a point in that political discussions are generally verboten here and this IS a political issue.

As long as we're allowed to discuss BOTH sides of this issue I don't have a problem with it. If you don't like it, you don't have to click on the thread.

“There is no rational reason why this disparity exists but it does.”

There is an abundantly rational reason for this disparity: Men and women are different, and tend to have different strengths and weaknesses, no matter how much CBC or NPR or MSNBC insist it ain't so.

Is there a Politically Correct reason for this disparity? No.

Or that not everybody has been brainwashed by PC propaganda.

Lots of people face tough roads in life. I don't have to celebrate everybody else's unusual propensities any more than I expect other people to celebrate mine.

“I am glad the administrator can hide their message, it will save me a lot of time.”

Which wouldn't change in the slightest if the option to see hidden messages were available. It would just mean that the administrators have enough respect for the community to let them decide for themselves whether they want to be treated like a kindergarten class.

In this age of political correctness, and in a forum where people must post under their real life names, less censorship is definitely better. I'd definitely prefer to decide for myself what is and isn't appropriate, particularly since many in this community aren't very good at that. If someone says enough things that cross my personal line, I can always block them.

I don't care much for gender-based events, but as long as we have them I don't think this ‘well-known expert’ (assuming he exists) should be playing in women's events. I think he's a richard for even considering the possibility and that this non-threat threat is contemptible.

This situation is not QUITE as abhorrent as the MMA fighter (Fallon Fox) in an analogous situation, but it's close.

Hi Brad,

Thanks for your work rooting out bridge cheats.

While those efforts have been almost-universally applauded throughout the bridge world, the one area of contention seems to be the ‘deal’ struck with P-S. Do you think it's appropriate for the Bridge Interpol to negotiate ‘deals’ with accused cheaters? What would you say to those who think such deals tarnish the process?

When you say that you find WBF ‘behavior during and after things were brought to their attention deplorable’ would you paint the entire WBF Executive Council with the same brush or are there one or two good ones or one or two particularly bad ones? You seem resigned to accepting a corrupt and/or inept WBF instead of seeking to replace WBF leadership. Why is that?

Yeah, that's why I didn't give a bridge answer. We all make nullo plays, probably far more frequently than we even realize. Who's to say which one is the ‘stupidest’?
