(I just sent this private message to Jeff while I was waiting for my membership to be approved)

Jeff,
For my coaching (and teaching advanced+ partnership) I use what is called “scenario scripting”. Rather than creating hands, I create scenario where conventional bidding system have known problem areas. Almost all such hands generate “Hand Evaluation” problems (or limitation of you system)

What caught my attention in your article is the example hand. This is a classic “problem area”. 1 minor-1Major-2minor. Now responder has 10+ (invitational) hands. You can extend it to 1 minor-1Major-3minor facing 9+ hands). For all these cases, hand evaluation becomes a necessity.

I am sending you 3 sets of hands(click the link below, if you have problems, send me your email address and I will send you the file) generated from my script (I just ran them). However, using these hands for teaching will require a competent teacher.
Each set contains 32 North Hand and 32 South Hands (use #1 North hand opposite #1 South Hand). North is always the Opener.

I would be happy to contribute to this project. I, in return, will appreciate if I get hands on Declarer play and Defense (preferably broken topic by topic).

Where does a coach (Eric Kokish) contribute to a seasoned partnership like yours? Or in a team like Nickell’s with 3 seasoned partnerships?

Might want to bid 4 to see if partner can cue bid 4. Over 4, he might cue bid 4 with a singleton which is not something I want to hear.

Is it a hand worth forcing to slam? Who will limit the hand?

I was talking of the following scenario. Played TM around 80 days ago. Right now it appears in my “My BBO/ ”Hands and Results“.
After 10 days (~) its going to disappear from ”My BBO/ “Hands and Results” list. Is there any way for me to save the entire TM?
Even if I want to save it, it does not give me an option to save the entire match (only individual deals)

Saved deals are for limited time (I think last 90 days?). Saving an entire tournament/team match deals is a pain (have to be done individually?). Anyone knows a faster way to save the entire game?

The ability to save my deals is too important for me. Dont know whether this feature is available in the web version (hardly used it)

This is the summary till now:

Compare table results when:

Bidding:
Different Openings in 2 tables (can be because of system, psych etc) and see HCP/Vulnerability/length of suit
Overcall – Made vs not made, suit quality, HCP of overcaller

Opening Lead:
Standard lead (4th/3rd/2nd best, internal honor sequence, journalist, rusinow?)

Final contract
Game in one room vs partial in other
Slam in one room vs game in other
3NT vs 4M

@ Nick: I have gone through your repository (brilliant work, BTW). The biggest issue with data seems to be with the names. Since the work that I am planning to do is irrespective of the player (in most of the cases), this error affects me the least.

All very good questions. Currently looking at data from BBO Archives (which has approx 5% errors - human data entry error). The idea is not to have a 100% accurate result, but to analyze and come up with a trend.

The 2nd portion of the question is the tricky part. The current objective is to look for trends (that is why I am asking what we should be looking for). Eventually, using the trends, my objective is to analyze individual plays – starting with myself (based on all the hands that I play in BBO). Eventually, everyone can analyze (and hopefully improve) their personal game seeing where they are going wrong.
Who is paying for it? No one. Its only my personal time with help from the bridge community in looking for the right trends.

Very interesting (and unique) thought process. Can you help me on an approach of how to achieve it (given that there is a large set of deals available in BBO archieve)

Thanks for your interest in this subject. My plan is:
Collect a large set of boards from top events (BB/WBG/Spingold/Vanderbilt etc) and run some algorithm through it.
Let your thoughts keep coming on it.

Can you be more specific? What can be found are things like
Overcall made/not made.
2 different sides playing a contract

Interesting thought. Can you help me in defining how to define a psych- by HCP (hands opened @ 1 ilevel with < 8 HCP?)
Again, definition of carding can be subjective (like some play low from doubleton, some play high). Can you help how to identify this ?
premptive bids with suit length can be found out.

But definitely will add this to my requirements list

Just to make sure that:
(2) Analysis can produce the range of the results, but “why” is subjective
(1) Hand evaluation again is subjective (except doing some basic stuff like LTC, ZAR points etc)

Theoretically possible, but carding methods will bring in a lot of discreprecies
