Congrats to all the winners. A notable mention to team Korbel, ranked third, but within 1 VP from first too.
Cannot help but notice that the the technical means of reporting the results is in line with the level of system regulation in USA. :)

I usually tend to believe my partner than the opponents. Well, it depends a bit on the class of my partner, but I find it unproductive to erode partnership trust unless something impossible has happened.
In my understanding 4H is an unequivocal slam try in diamonds. All other types of strong of hands have alternative bids (DBL/3S/4C/4N).

I would be fishing for 7. After all Axx xxx Jxxxx xx is the same 3D. And if I hear 4S over 4H…

5NT for me, pick a slam.
Is a hand like KQx - AKQx AKxxxx or similar possible? Seems like to fit the bidding.

Only with J8/9, but not J5.

If 4D was a serious slam try as opposed to 3N, then N has no extras and must pass. All depends on methods.

I think easiest would be to bid 4D over 2S. This should be heart support and Cue. Spades are not in focus and with a long minor you just bid it on level 3.

The “shut up” part is what makes preempts effective.

Then I can't help but wonder why “gamesmanship” is usually frowned upon?

However when the rules are flawed/unfair there are some that prefer to play the rules and not to play the game. It just leaves a sour taste…

I have the meta rule that a suit over game level is Ex. Jump not needed. Quite simple and effective. If you want to invite 6M bid 5M.

I once tabled the same trumps to partner after he had opened at 5th level. Didn't raise him and it was right.

To RW: Damn, too many lawyers lurking around..With regards to selective prosecution, this has been a valued and time-honored tradition by WBF.

I do no want to get into arguments, but it is not just paperwork, you need a proved medical reason.
To be clear, I have been tested for drugs on a World Championship TWICE and detest the procedure and the reasoning to adopt it.

OK, I'll have to point the elephant in the room. H&H were prosecuted for tax evasion and they “didn't know better”. Now Helgemo is prosecuted for drug abuse and he “didn't know better”. Bad luck?

It really is, but the sacrifice of pips is much more severe. Think Q93.
Also the problem of guessing between 2 and 3 cards if both lead high.

But the auction pool is unprecedently small, which gives a clear indication how the auction went.
