2NT will be very often bad contract.
Strong club system may stop in 1NT or better partscore.
IMO I should risk Stayman

Hi Barry.
My recomendation is 2H= natural.
2D= +5H+5S,C
With blacks you can double or bid 2NT
1H is often +3. We must have mechanizm to shows +5H+5S,C

Steve.
If opener may have short in minor we need mechanism to check it.
3S is working well like waiting bid without shortness.
3NT= short in spade, 4C,D - natural shortness.
After 3S partner will bid 3NT= no shortess and 4C,D short.

In last 10 years championship I found 13 bords with this situation. 3C,D - X or 3H,S - 5C,D - ?. Green against red.
11 times they bid for preempt, 2 they can win.
7 times we need cooperation, especially after double.
With: AKJxxxx,xx,xx,Kx
Bidding was
3D - X - 5D - pass
pass X - pass 5S - slam try
pass 6S with
Q10xx,AKJx,x,AJxx
Not important is what we like but, what we need.

How often we need cooperation to double, bid 5 or 6 heart?
How often they bid 5D to win (green against red) and if we double, redouble.
With our hand you really know what to do?
With QJ10,AJ10xxx,x,AJx for 5H we pay 500 and they 100 to 300.
In my opinion cooperation in high (5 or more) level is very important and give us a lot of IMPs. 550 from time to time is accaptable cost.
