Michael,u suggest to invert the situation, with standard methods what do u bid if u have a balanced hand with 10-11 hcp? I think the only bid is DBL.If u bid dbl and then 3M Ok is invitational, but for what i understand in your comment,u dont differentiate if u have 4M and if u have 5M invitational.
U suggest to invert the situation with 3 as take out DBL?

Many american players likes open 1 this kind of hands.I Completly disagree.
Problems are:
Difficult rebid
Allow opponents overcall for free by 1 or 1 where if i open 1 often i close the board.
If i have bad 5 and very good clubs i STILL open 1 because if i play some NT contract is more difficult for opponents lead or switch

On 4♠️ i rebid DBL, better DBL and DBL than 2♥️ and pass…

In fact this is the weakest point of defence, but there also many advantages bidding DBL for show 6M-4m which is a very difficult hand to describe especially with shortness in other major

I Dont agree with 2,in my opinion is just normal dbl with 4,in this cases i use cue bids for show strong hands: 2 strong with and 3 Strong with

Sincerely difficult to understand 2 instead DBL with 17 hcp and solid suit, and very difficult to understand the pass at 2nd round, also difficult to understand why pard didnt bid 4nt that in this case should be either 5+5+ minors or strong raise

Depends on style.
If U dont want bid 1NT with a singleton U can avoid this version :)))
I often bid 1nt with a SGL so for me this convention works very well

Evidently Mr Hargreaves read only page 1 and didnt read Any Develop about this convention
Mr Hargreaves forgot that with this convention he can play 2 or 2 with 43 fit wich is often a better contract than 1nt and even 3 with 53 or 54 Fit
This looks to me Mr Hargraeves pubblish one of those poorly comments that periodically surface here and elsewhere…

My reply was to Michael Hargreaves…Anyway…if U have a suit wthout side entries in dummy U will make less tricks than if U play that suit as a thrump.

Evidently U dont read Well The post.
When opener has 1345 after 1-1-1N-2 bid 2
When opener has 1435 bid 2,that means that responder has always a choose to play at least with 7 thrumps
Basic rules of good bridge says its better to play 2M instead 1N When responder has a weak hand and this method works for not play in 5-1.
