IST code was transferred to the new airport (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Istanbul_Airport).
There is also public transport, including subway under the Bosporus (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Istanbul_Metro).

Movements - a fair approach (Hallén, Hanner & Jannersten) has a movement for three tables you can curtail at any moment (page 35):
“The idea is that you can play any number of rounds from two upwards. When you consider it is time to finish you tell the players at table 2 not to start a new set of boards in the next round …”
If you're interested, send me a private message with your email, I'll send you more information.

WBF results website is down and prospects are not good. Through my twitter account I try to inform my followers (in Dutch), halfway and at the end of all sessions, for U26, U21 and girls (that is where the Dutch teams play). I add pictures of the onsite result screens so you might be able to see all marches. My account on twitter is marcvb_bridge. You could also go to www.bridge.nl and click on the link just under the picture of the cup (“Klik hier voor de opstellingen en uitslagen”, only session results, in Dutch), or look at the twitterfeed in the right corner where my tweets should appear. NB USA is VS (Verenigde Staten) in Dutch.

A quite humorous but also very clear explanation about the difference between Holland and the Netherlands can be found on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eE_IUPInEuc

Holland has many cities and indeed most of those have their own pub tournament. The Netherlands even has more cities (and villages), many of them also have these city tours during which you can play bridge. The biggest one will be in a few weeks in the city of 's-Hertogenbosch (which is not Holland), and has around 800 pairs every year. It will be held for the 32nd time this year (and it is not the oldest).

Several penalties were given (for Bermuda Bowl, for example, see here http://db.worldbridge.org/repository/tourn/lyon.17/microsite/Asp/crosstablerank.asp?qtournid=1440). I suppose most of them, if not all, were given for slow play.

It was because one of the players of Chinese Taipei had a phone with him in the playing area.

I will talk to the secretary to the Laws Committee, Laurie Kelso, this morning and might have some information in the course of the day.

That might be true by definition but NO Dutchmen believes he lives at the border of an Ocean.

The Netherlands is not really bordering the Atlantic Ocean, as Britain is on the other side of the North Sea.
Special mention for the Dutch mixed team which has played four handed throughout. According to captain Jan Jansma, the most difficult round was the bye in the round robin :).

As I was involved as TD, I have some details. I thought it was an interesting hand so I would like to share what I know.
In the open room, the TD was called for a ruling on board 15 and one of the players tried to show one hand but inadvertently took out a hand of board 16. Therefore, the board was shuffled and redealt. Gonzalo already gave the bidding in the open room but as I was present in the closed, I can give you more details about it.
You hold KJ10x - AK109xxx Ax (green vs red) and RHO opens 1 (strong). Platnick chose to overcall 1 and saw pass-2-2 coming back to him. He then bid 3, it went 4-pass-pass and he bid 5. LHO bid 5 and after pass-pass Platnick bid one more.
After the J lead, dummy had Qxxx Jxx xxx Q9x so declarer went one down, losing a club and A.
Unfortunately, I don't know if the spades were 4-1. You have some play in 5 if they aren't (seems like avoiding the diamond ruff, they were 2-1). But then 5 makes too.

Aviv, if someone is pairing up with future world class players, there is always also someone who is partnering a lesser player, I suppose - they just can't be future world class players all of them.
At least my federation (Netherlands) takes the view that there is no (financial) support for transnational events. In other words: players have to pay for their own holidays.

In the World Bridge Games, there have not been pairs championships before. In Wroclaw it will be the first time there will be national pairs instead of the transnational mixed teams. The Bermuda Bowl is every two years, as are the Open World Youth which are transnational.
I personally don't see why youth should play transnational, there is more than enough opportunity to make connections while playing against other countries, or outside the table. If I where to pay for a national team, I think it is better (i.e. might give more benefit) on the long run to have my players playing with their own partner / teammates than teaming up with others. They are having fun anyway (as I have witnessed this last week).

I have been told BAM is not transnational because this is not / no longer a transnational event. The odd years have Open World Youth Championships which are transnational. However, there are some transteam teams playing, for countries with more than one team not qualifying.

It has been different in the past but this seems to be the new policy and not only for this event, see also the forthcoming championships in Wroclaw which isn't transnational too any more (for the pairs that is).

Regarding missing line ups: I spoke with the scorer. He admits he forgot to upload the line up for one of the previous sessions. It should be complete now for previous sessions, and for those to come.

Tom: enough for what?
But actually my information was not correct: Schwartz's intended partner did not get a USA visa and he played only one match as a substitute, but not with Fisher.
“Period” does not invite to further discussions but as I stated already, WBF officially invited, through the President of the NBB, “the Dutch Youth National Team winning the World Youth Teams Championship in Taicang” to take part in the transnational World Championships.

I don't see why Israel should claim the win in Veldhoven. Fact is that the team consisted of 6 Israeli players, and that LF and RS played together. However, in Philadelphia they did not (actually they did but just one match). But of course, if it is not considered to be an official Israeli team, IBF can't renounce the title.
Regarding the question about the Dutch team, I can tell you from first hand that they got the entry fee and hotel rooms (B&B), but had to pay for their tickets. The invitation was send by the WBF to the president of the federation, so the Dutch considered it as an official delegation.
