So Michael Bodell…it is ok if the censor doesn't like what you say and sends you an overtly threatening letter? If you can't see this is threatening (and apparently no one can, so don't feel bad) you will continue to get shat on by overly zealous ego-driven fellows like Eugene. It's a choice you make - that is until the Eugenes of the world decide to shut you up completely. Then you can discuss with me how such missives are beautiful pieces of constructive criticism.

Hope I haven't breached any more netiquette here.

MR: One doesn't need to see every tiny detail of everything to know who is for real. I am an instinctive player.

RY: There may be offensive things going on in this world, but that comment certainly wasn't one of them. If it is, everyone is wound too tightly.

Phil…Eugene tells me to shut up for my own good. He suggests I would do better to not talk as it may hurt my reputation. He did this for no reason other than he didn't like my “snarky” comments. Do you see where this kind of censorship is headed Phil?

You are seeing the world upside-down if you are discussing “netiquette”. It's a BS word used here after the censor threatens me and tells me to shut up. This is not an exhibition of “courage”….I have many other adjectives.

Well, thank goodness that I have a savior in Eugene. After all, he so obviously has my best interest at heart and wouldn't want me to damage my reputation. Such sincerity just blows one over.

He was only responding to what I posted here and that was the only PM he sent to me (I didn't send him one). Am I the only one who thinks this is the most vile letter ever sent to someone regarding a simple post? It's actually scary that no one is noticing.

I agree with every single word Harry said…just not in the same order.

If anyone has interest….here's what you get if you speak out against censorship…from Eugene Hung:

“Hi Michael –
I'm only writing this to you because I respect you greatly, not only as a bridge player, but as a person. Before we had to discipline Gabrielle, you have always struck me as one of the most level-headed and calm players in the business. So it's a bit of a surprise to see you doing a 180 in terms of personality online.
Your defense of Gabrielle is laudable for its loyalty to your partner. It's natural for you to defend her, and nobody begrudges you that right. But I am telling you quite clearly and plainly: the only person you are hurting with your continued passive-aggressive comments is yourself. It is fine to disagree with our policies and we're not going to remove anything as long as you don't blatantly violate our Community Guidelines. But you should know that your continued snarky comments won't change our mind, and it only makes you look petty and small when you keep bringing up or referencing an issue that most people consider closed. Throwing verbal mudballs at authority in public must be fun, but in my experience, the mud usually ends up sticking to both sides.
I also want to point out that the stakes are unequal here. If we lose several users because of your antics, we don't care – they weren't paying us anything anyway. If you lose several potential clients from them seeing you behaving in this fashion … well, that's up to you to decide if it's worth it.
You have frequently stated in the past that you will never again be posting on our site (and then going back on that statement weeks later.) Speaking strictly for your sake, I think you would do better, both from a financial and reputation standpoint, to honor your vow. (From my perspective, I could not care less either way.) But if you want to continue to destroy what must have been a hard-earned reputation as an affable and reasonable person, keep on posting.
Eugene”

Yes, absolutely right Eugene - I formally propose that the term “second-degree cheating” be used in all community discussion. Do I need to make a motion? Perhaps an automatic flagging system should be employed if someone deviates from this talk, or shall we call it, “Newspeak”? One time a 5 day suspension, next evidence of deviation, permanent dismissal. Just a suggestion. I feel George Orwell would be proud if we implement these auspicious community measures.

Geez - I wonder how many crap censorship issues you have to have here at BW before you realize censorship is not debatable. Just evil.

Richard I'm not sure you're reading it properly. Gabby was trying to explain an incident in which Nic displayed bizarre behavior. That was the only reason to mention my relationship with Christal.

Yes Henk…standing in his shoes I'd try and get someone else to give me another $3MM for a non-useful product. At least he's got staunch support here.

PT Barnum appears to have had it right.

It is obvious from this thread and the BW censorship, that folks would rather defend the CEO, president, vice-president, director of marketing, etc….of dum dum dum… Hammond Industries than save a bridge league. (by the way, how many employees in this major global concern?…I there's only one)

I see now that this is a website for those with foolish agendas. Let us kill the messenger. Let us defend to the death those that take from us. Folks - you and I just paid out, and are still paying out apparently, millions of $$ for a worthless product.

You and I could have paid out $150,000 and had a working product in one year. But who cares about that? I mean we have to defend the league and dum dum dum Hammond Industries and its leader.

By the way, Nicholas appears to have done some spectacular things…check out his Wikipedia page. I do believe he wrote it - well done! Oh sorry…they're unverifiable claims, but I'm sure they're correct, no?

Good luck to you all with this. I guess you deserve your league and your leaders. Good job thinking Gabby is the crazy one.

My father had a saying for you fellows….

“Get your head out of your ass before you smother to death”

I think you should heed his warning.

And there's a good reason you'll hear nothing of Hammond's meeting with Versace (unless Alfredo decides to sue). Folks might want to find out why…

I'm not sure that's the best way to do it Randy. I mean, suppose I hold Qxx xx xxxx AQ98. If I pass and LHO bids 3 or passes, I would expect partner to try 3 with say, AJxxx Jxx AKxx x. I think I'd much rather defend with these two hands. Partner will be very happy to double them rather than bid on if we double 3 for penalty.

In my experience I've found “bidding where you live” to be good for my own judgment and partner's. Doubling clubs with defense against clubs fits the criteria.

I can see merit to the your view, I just find it more “tricky” than natural.

Jols - many, but I'll bet on you. I don't know if a real critic would consider it great or not, but I know Nicholson performs it amazingly…can't help but love it. :)

Son, we live in a world that has cheats and those cheats have to be guarded by men with guts. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Maclej Klis? Boye has a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You weep for F-S, F-N, P-S, B-Z and you curse the Cheat busters. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what Boye knows. That the cheater's convictions, while tragic, probably saved the game. And Boye's existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saved the game. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want him on their case, you need me him on their case. He uses words like honesty, courage and fair play. He uses these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline. He has neither the time nor the inclination to explain himself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very clean game that he provides, and then questions the manner in which he provides it. He would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, he'd suggest you pick up your cards, and make sure the game is clean by yourself. Either way, he doesn't give a damn what you think you are entitled to.

Steve and Ai-Tai…to me, if you don't overcall (or with Steve's 4324 good fitting hand), you'd have to be pretty wimpy not to bid game or strongly invite. I don't think 3S is really invitational anyway, but if you can make game opposite the given (incredibly light…and that's being kind) hand, you just can't be bidding 3. Add the usual…IMHO :)

Steve, Not getting too involved in this, but I have to mention….“easy to construct hands where 4 is cold”. No way Jose! Keep in mind he didn't overcall or preempt over 1 and he didn't cue now. I'm not even sure what he's got - and I usually have some lousy idea. :)
