@David Gold
Yes, I think this is the right way to do it. Do not interact with them!
and do not interact with people playing with or paying them.
In my opinion it is not the right way to stay a way from tournaments they are playing in.
This hurts oneself, this is bad for bridge at all and it is not helping the organisers of tournaments.

In Italy (I layed in Milano) all this players seemed to be treated normal, That I do not like.

Of course this was another hesitation case. South took some time before bidding 5♣️.
Therefore the question is whether pass is an logical alternative.

I meant that it shows nothing special, but strength. Often interested to double some M contract.

If I have a system which could show 3-1 MM 5-4 mm FG
I would have tried this.
Over 2N I would bid 3 and hopefully get raised to 4
Maybe I would have answered 3 directly if 2 promises INV values.

We had one of this in the German Bundesliga some 20 years ago..:
(3) p (5) 6
with 6-4-2-1 and the other Doctor supported with
a single and 6-c to the J.

You cant ban them just for being stupidly lucky can you?

Constructive wise it seemed better to have the good W2 in 2M
as you could develop better if game/slam is in the picture.
In Sweden it is common now a days to have 2M 10-12(13)
with the Multi for 5-9

2D..p..4C..X…………2D Multi often 5-c suit 3-8(9)
4D..4S..X..“P”

ap

5CX went down
4S could have beaten 5 DD

It was a hesitation case
North hesitated over 4SX and
then South run.

No damage was down
but I thought that passing is logical alternative
and want to prove it via a poll on BW.

Ps.: I was South E/W were players of international standard (East a former junior World champion)
As they lost the KO match by 2 IMP anyway I didnt question this hand later.

With a hand just having some HCP you have to pass
and double 4M later?
I think doubling 4 now with some HCP (and probably some )
hoping pd could cooperate is less dangerous,
because you are not committing yourself to a decision
on the 4/5 level.

As Jyri says, with three possible strains it pays out to start low. But maybe you do not have a semiforcing opening bid.

This depends much on what double promises. In my book D promise 44 in MM (I think it is “unplayable” to play D hier as 4/3 MM ;-)

When D shows 44 MM then, in modern bridge 1 promise only 3-c fit. 2 is the normal BAL raise usually 12-14. It is a matter of judgement where to sort this hand in. I think it is a 3 bid.

I think also that S should bid 2. My reason is that with 3-c and 2-c N might also ask for the better M liking a 5/2 fit better than a 43 fit.

I would also have shown my suit before in a NF way. Now X might have worked out nicely, they seem not to have a fit as LHO might have 22 in the minors. Then I think Pd will X with his 5143 hand.
if LHO has 33 in minors Pd has 5 3 3 2 and I should bid . I think normally they do not pass with 33 in minors.
