If 5 showed one ace, bidding 6 should be fine….

I have now tried the new version for a while and I do like it. There are differences but most of the stuff is “as usual”. Sure, if you still prefer the old Windows version, then you may have difficulties. I forgot details of that Windows stuff when I changed, but even then I liked the new (then) version better…

Regarding played hands - On my android, there is a clock-like symbol at the bottom which makes this pretty easy.
And not changing away from flash is a non-option since browsers will end flash-support by around 2020 so something has to be done

I like this idea, and I am willing to give support. We can setup a website for this or have BW host it. Would need some ideas how this should be organised and what tools are needed.

“We now have at least three different groups working on bridge teaching hand libraries”

Interesting… Do you have pointers to these?

While I agree that this is certainly not the crime of the century, I also strongly disagree that literary merit has any relevance in that issue. Its still “pinching stuff wholesale” if you do that, as documented, over a long period in time and systematically, not accidentally. It is not sloppiness.

Now consider he would correctly ask and properly quote the original author, the result would look strange to me. I would ask myself why this was there in the first place, being totally unrelated to Bridge, and it would be obvious that the only reason was the need to fill the space.

Unquoted, it seems like some musing that the author felt the need to produce and I may find it amusing or irrelevant or whatever, but ignore it.

So, not quoting seems “logical in context”.

I still find it unacceptable.

Playing 2-3 times per week, directing 1-2 times. When I direct “for free” I usually play, on the other days I am available as a playing director for any member that shows up alone. We are a membership-“owned” club so this is a little different I guess … When we direct “for free” (3 days per week) we get one drink and no thanks (;-)), on the other days the members pay a small table fee which partially goes to the director…

Actually the 2 bid was illegal according to the Austrian regulations… But started the same at our table….

Park-Bridge-Club Graz currently has a 28€/Month membership fee which gives you three free days per week to play. For the other days members pay €3 per session. TD gets a free drink on a free day and keeps part of the session-fee on the other days.

my partner cue-bidded after my splinter in a suit where I do need a cue-bid to go for slam, so - no. For me.

In our strong club based system it would go

1 - 1
1 - 1
3NT

showing a balanced 27+. All bids before that artificial. Getting to 6NT is no issue then, but 7…? would need to follow with

- 4 (transfer)
4 - 5

noone will be able to count 13 tricks…

And if he has psyched? Come on… Whether random bidding was allowed by the rules or not, it's cannot be partner to decide that has happened.

Somehow I miss why an unintended call (if legal otherwise) automatically should be an irregularity. It is not against the rules to make a stupid call. Also, where would we stop here? When I have 8 hearts in my hand and my p opens 1 - statistically this will more often be an unintended call than not (opening 5 card majors), but how do I know? So no, asking my p here whether his call is intended or not is clearly not legal to me.

In <our> club, they always leed low from an honor… ;)

At least that was the case whenever I took the Ace in such a situation…. almost always… (none of the top pairs though)
