Strange post. How I may be sure that it is really a post written by Multon ?

Yes, absolutely right. Not a “Transnational Open Teams”, but a “Indianational Open Teams”. This kind of event is really a “Transnational” only when it takes place in Europe (short distances)

Ron Patchmann ? Ambassador's to bridge : well, it is new, really new !
I read nowhere that one he asked for his opinion, and it would be surprising.
see : http://bridgewinners.com/article/view/boye/

Patchmann said : I know Lotan and Ron for many many years. For me, the ethics of the game are above everything. LOL ! The joke of the year.

Hanan, I knew that. And I still dont understand : why, when you are selecting for the BB, that you are youngs and not World Champions, why did you prefer AFTER play the Transnationals ! If you (F/S) win the BB (and it is possible, the European championship can be stronger than the BB), it will be the best thing on your business card. Of course, you can say : money is money, but I think it's a mediocre argument. How many times young bridge pros (not already multiple world champions) refused this honour to play for their country ? This attitude seems incomprehensible, unless we do not have all the informations ( trying to push them out ?).

Totally exact, but the finals butler is the most interesting because it only is against the strongest teams. About the quals butler, the “third pair” can play against weakest teams as you know : and even in the quals butler, Herbst-Herbst are not very well placed.
I would be very interested to know why a bridge Federation can select a pair as F/S with the records they have (since 2004 !). To be honest, I cannot understand that : and is it logical that the captain of the Israeli team was the brother in law of one of these fishy players ? It seems to me that if the IBF looked for troubles, it is unfortunately won.

“I think it is very unlikely that the IBF knew that FS were cheating.”

I am not so sure. Israel won the European Championship in 2014. When you look at the “Butler”, you can see :
- Fisher-Schwartz +0.78 (112 deals),
- Birman-Padon +0.11 (112 deals)
- Herbst-Herbst - 0.03 (64 deals only !)
O course, the Butler is not the only indicator to know which pair is the best, but it is a very good one.
If I was (!) the responsable of the national team of the IBF, I should find that it would be mandatory Fisher/Schwartz should play the Bermuda Bowl. Win the BB should be so prestigious.
But very curiously, the IBF selects for the Bermuda Bowl 2015 Birman-Padon, Liran-Friedlander (World champions) and …Herbst-Herbst. I dont understand (dont speak to me about “other entries” for F/S !). I think it is at least weird.

I wish the WBF take measures as quickly as possible against these cheaters. The bridge community cannot wait for a decision of the Israeli Bridge Federation (IBF), because the Bermuda Bowl takes place in September. And IBF said that Fisher/Schwartz have until October 30th to answer accusations of cheating.

With Israel as winner of the 52nd European Team Championship, the results were :
Team Total
1 ISRAEL 214.80
2 MONACO 213.29
3 ENGLAND 209.65
4 POLAND 200.63
5 BULGARIA 198.85
6 GERMANY 198.22
7 SWEDEN 189.95
8 DENMARK 187.46
9 FRANCE 181.31

If Israel is out, the new results are :

1 MONACO 205,84
2 ENGLAND 198,74
3 GERMANY 196,19
4 POLAND 194,81
5 BULGARIA 192,37
6 DENMARK 180,50
7 SWEDEN 177,40
8 FRANCE 171,62

So, it is Denmark which logically can go to the Bermuda Bowl

Hi Oleg,

I have no time this week-end to see the videos.
I have seen only the 6 first deals of the segment 1/6, and the deal 5 is interesting.
You have (Schwartz) KJ10x; J; Axxxx; xxx
Your opponents plays Polish Club and bid :
1C pass 2C (natural) pass
2 H (strong, 5+) pass 3 H pass
3 S pass 4 H (minimum, surely no interest) pass pass pass
Your lead ? The dummy is favorite to have points in clubs, not a big hand and 3 hearts.
Schwartz enough quickly leads… small diamond under Axxxx.
And what is the hand of Fisher : xxxx; xxxx; Rx; Vxx
Very good lead !!!! You find the only big honor of your partner.
The contract wins because the dummy has a diamond singleton.

To Ed July : do you seriously think the cheaters (and specially top players ) need advices ? These are not-cheaters who need advices and alerts against possible cheaters.

To Lynn Johannessen.
“if they were cheating and somehow knew it was right to compete to the four level, why wouldn't this hand have simply doubled 3♦? That would have been less suspicious”.
Hum, may be here the situation dont allow to convey all the informations necessary to bid. Suppose you are cheating with the tray : if you have a doubtful bid (as double over 3D), the best is surely to wait for one message (or a second) from your partner (remember your partner was in 4th seat).
Perhaps also the way of putting the bid “pass” convey another information. The system of cheating can be very sophistocated.

These hands are all amazing; but I suggest to mention every time if possible if LF/RS were NS or EW.
