Whether you cancel or don't cancel, whatever. Within four months the likelihood is high that all of us will have been exposed to corona virus. Most of us will be fine. 2.3 percent of us will have died, those in the higher age brackets.
Confronting a problem and trying to do something about it is noble. But this cause is lost before you start.
You may as well all go and have fun.

Succinctly stated, Ryerson. And I agree, there is more risk from the overreaction to the virus, than there is from the virus.

From another point of view…. the tanker may have a medical problem developing. Noticed it at our club, bids by the player became slow, with frequent tanking…
And he stroked out weeks later.

What choice? He was exonerated…. or do you mean the wrong done to him?

Love reading the daily bulletin… on PAPER! Enjoyable to sit down with a coffee and relax.
Also keep them for years.
Just don't understand your thinking? That a lot of people are going to rush eagerly to their computers and browse?

Adjust the score. Ban him from the club for 3 months if he does it again.

Aniracetam is a newer formulation of piracetam. Below is the link.

Below is a link to Piracetam. I've found, on recommending this to some patients, that they have benefited. It seems to improve their focus.
It is safe, and not expensive. It is available in Europe and Canada, no prescription needed.
In my experience, the majority have had enough improvement in their function, by familial testimony, that they continue to take it.
It is available from the life extension foundation.
I see no problem in bridge players taking this formula. The majority are above the age of 75 and they may notice help in other facets of their life.

Tanya, that depends on the area in which you live. In actual fact, there are more non acbl clubs in this area than acbl. Every town around this area in the Kawartha lakes has live bridge and actually the table count at those is higher than at the acbl clubs. When asked if they'd like to have their clubs join acbl they graciously declined:)

Cognitive Dissonance. A psychiatric resident would have a field day reading this thread :)

Peg, I've read all of your many many comments. It seemed obvious to me early on that you had a dog in this fight and that you were emotionally defending those players since you've known since they were, as you say, children. I think comments would have more effect if they were from someone with more objectivity. As a reader and observer, I think Grue and Levin would gain more respect, and indeed win the battle if they stepped down. Sometimes you lose to win, or win by losing.

They did in my eyes and many others. Only would be restored by rescinding the win and letting the real winners step up. To bad it won't soon be forgotten… ever…

Yes , really. Properly, that is where they belong… I think winning in this way is beneath them.

Jane, I don't know where you play bridge or what the table count is at the club where you play. I gather from your bio that you've been playing for years and years, and I think that this fact probably skews your point of view of today's bridge world.
Nowadays, we are begging people to come out to play bridge. We are mentoring (as you do) to encourage people to keep coming out to the clubs. We provide cookies and coffee and after the hands cheerfully give explanations of what could have, should have been done. But we don't call the director at the club level except when a board is missing a card, or the motion has been skewed.
The attitude of certain players can make or break a club. In a bridge club in western Canada, one of the oldest highest ranked players, a director died… the table count at that club doubled…
Friends or not friends, if you feel or even have been told directly that your presence at the table/club is intimidating, try to cool it. Go to the kitchen and make the coffee, direct the game, organize the bridge parties, go to the public schools and give after class lessons in bridge. Try to use your expertise to nourish the sick child which is bridge.
On a positive note, the love fest method has worked in ACBL clubs in at least two cities I know of…. But players who flee clubs with above cited director calls go to non ACBL clubs and and another one bites the dust….

The sick child is “bridge”. I'm tired of seeing relative newbies quit because of situations like this. Do you disagree that bridge is currently a sick child? Rapidly disappearing ….
