I think both not funny, and very rude. Why are those stories here?

Wonderful! It pleases me very much. And, might I add, if it hadn't turned out like this, I would have quit the ACBL.

This is interesting. I didn't bid it like that. I just played it without all that thinking and it made very simply.

Peg, I haven't found that the bridgewinner guys are clear. I hope you're not counting such people who are saying no way, but actually they are the ones who would use it the most. There's something illogical about that indeed.

Richard, as I said before, YOU are the one who uses the WATERCOOLER site more than any other person here, discussing various topics and with seeming enjoyment. Since you do this , why are you adverse to having a “watercooler” section here? It is really inexplicable to me.
Can you enlighten us as to why, even though you do most of your postings on non bridge related subjects, you don't want the people here to enjoy it?

@ Richard… you seem to be one of the most prevalent posters on the watercooler's site, and your postings are great. Is your opposition to this site being changed to include non bridge discussion because you get a vast amount of discussion of non bridge related topics on that site? I find it hard to believe that your comment about the “big mistake” is true…. Your comment contradicts your actions …actions taken over many years.

I flagged. It was rude and insensitive.

Why isn't this the place? It should be the place.

David, I laughed out loud at your post! So refreshing! I hope that club reads it and takes it to heart!

Difference in cultures here. We are extremely hopeful in this country , Canada, to have by the end of the year
25,000 new comers and will welcome these displaced Syrians with open arms and loving hearts. The foreign language will be an indication he/she is to be cherished and nourished.

@Ai-Tai No definitely not. or maybe in your culture women are silent. Here its just the opposite. Women are much more vocal.
I think women when they talk , say a thing once. Men when they talk, rehash.

Kudos to Honors bridge club in Manhattan. When I walked in, one of the directors introduced himself, and when I stated I wanted to learn more about the club, he invited me to kibitz one of the better players and took my email address so he could send me information. Loved the place, warm and welcoming!
Sounds like those people at Jourdan's were full of themselves.

We always open north's hand. 2Diamonds, 5/5 in the majors, less than an opening.

My daughter's quote from the Harvard Business Review>
“ Why do so many incompetent men become leaders? The real gender issue isn't a lack of qualified women, but a surplus of unqualified men.”
If more men have a great deal of enjoyment being bridge pros, more power to them. I think brilliant women find other things to do. Bridge, in their lives, stays as it should, a game of intellectual challenge, with the added benefit of fun and socializing. The bridge world is a wonderful place to meet up with smart, interesting life partners. (They may begin by being bridge partners)

Susie, your children will do fine in a mixed school. And, might I add, its interesting to look back on my academic days, and that of my two daughters, and realize there never was a school year at any level, in which a male was ever ahead of us. My daughters, in their secondary schools and universities, law and medicine respectively, were the medalists in every single year. I would have enjoyed being able to look up to a classmate, perhaps… but it never happened. It is irritating to see the assumptions above, that men do better. In my experience, they don't.

Its rare, but an individual can have two different sets of DNA… its called chimer-ism.
But I agree, tournaments should be gender non specific.

My bid is 2 spades, because my partner and I play reverse flannery, and we'd get to four hearts, if the shape is right in partner's hand. It would tell my partner about my majors and point count with one bid. We may yet end up in diamonds.
