Andy Robson made this point in a BOLS bridge tip long ago: http://www.haroldschogger.com/robson.htm

I'd like to congratulate Aaron Jones and Jennifer Lin for winning Saturday's event - well done!
But, looking over the recap from their section especially, and other sections, makes me wonder about how entries are sold, and the event seeded.
Jones/Lin played NS in section J.
The strats A/B/C were divided 10/2/4.
The EW field in J was 1/5/10!
https://live.acbl.org/event/2005122/32PO/2/recap
(And the NS field in sect. N was 2/0/14)
It looks like the mean J NS score for the session is about 56% or more.
I realize entries are bought under BBO names, but surely there is a way to at least evenly divide the strats, if not actually seed the field?

Nic, It's obvious the Atlanta 19-tbl game was online, and I knew they were one of the trial BBO club games. Which of the other recent ones can you tell were online?

Ray, I believe you are mistaken. I'm not sure of the default sorting method, but if you click “date” it will sort by oldest, then click again to get by newest.

Rick - it had nothing to do with my duties as a director, only that the cruise ship on which it occurred was the Grand Princess. Strangely, one of the pairs in our group was the plaintiffs in the $1m lawsuit. Some wondered about their actual damages; I know they lost 3 sessions of the sectional!

I don't know if ACBL had it or not - my local Ft Worth regional didn't show cancelled when I checked earlier today. We just got the hotel last night to agree that we had cause.

Ray, that was from the tournament email sent to me. Perhaps someone could get it in a better format.

<The next still scheduled regional is Hot Springs AR, April 3.>

This regional?

The Hot Springs Village, Arkansas combo NLM regional and open sectional scheduled for Apr 3-5, 2020 has been canceled.

This action was taken per mitigation advice for coronavirus issued by governmental health authorities.

We will miss seeing everyone.

Stay safe and take care,

Leslie Pfeiffer and Vicki Poecker

I think the obvious solution is just punctuation!
GLM* = restricted win
GLM! = major team or Platinum pairs
GLM^ = Canadian trials

I don't know Marc, and can't speak to the decision, but it is not, and should not, be automatic to accept that request. Our last Fort Worth regional, we had a team who wanted to play up in a Bracketed Swiss. They were accommodated the 1st two days they asked. The 1st time they didn't threaten the OA's, but were not terribly outclassed. The 2nd day, they were winless and had virtually no VP's. They were then told they needed to play in their proper bracket, and I believe won the 5th bracket.
The point - a team should be allowed to play top bracket if they don't belong anywhere near that high.

3 can also be slam try, but otherwise this is exactly my preference.

Mathematically, yes. BUT, people seem to think the directors frequently match non-randomly so that the pros get the worst of it.

Eric, I had your auction & result a LONG time ago at a regional, before the rdbl bonus went to 100. So, the score was +2670. When I checked my scores after dinner, I found I had TWO MPs on the board! Of course, the director had missed the “2” on the pick-up slip.
