I disagree. This will often affect bidding. 1-X-?
How aggressively do you bid a suit here will depend on how likely opp to have 4.

I would include a DONT 2 bid as natural, but yes rare.

I've seen people double 1 with 13 pts. and 2. They don't have min off-shape doubles checked off on their cc and if i mention this, they have know idea what i'm talking about.

I voted for 3. But i've changed my mind. at MP just bid game 4, don't worry if p has perfect hand. Only real way to bid this scientifically is if your playing SJS.

this may be the only opportunity to lead . partner better have pretty solid and long for bidding which doesn't need me to lead thru for him.

i put i'm not sure, mainly because i don't know what the double means. However, if in this case partner just thinks can set leading the singleton might get a ruff for an extra down trick. so that's what i would do.

One of the problems with a rating system is if the rating reflects your level there is no incentive to play a lot as your rating will hover around where it is. Worse, if your starting to go downhill you have to pay to watch your rating go down.

So, if you want to have an incentive to play you need your system to be inflationary. So on average people will gain rating points.

Personally, i think rating partnerships is a better idea and have more meaning.

is this a possible hand that would bid 3N then 5 to play (4N hopeless)?
I confess finding a hand is difficult.

Your playing in a national pairs qualifier. Hopefully your partner knows not to bid 5 on hands with red Aces or where where 4N makes or your not going very far.

perhaps its 4N that wont make!? Don't see how 6 is gonna make when p can't make a red suit cuebid?

I think would work better if 3 stronger like a mixed raise (or does anyone still play limit?!) Now 3N natural is very unlikely.

The bidding problem before this p opens 1 and you have weak 5-5 minor hand, so i thought this was similar so made a 2/1 response to partner only to discover opp opened 1. But i stand by 2 this is a really strong hand and will likely be bidding 4 at my next call (maybe even 5 if opp don't make a slam try). Now p can make an informed decision whether to bid at the 5 or 6 level.

The arguments that 4N is just a general slam try for are convincing, but even then what i mostly want to know is does p have 2 KC.

Don't like Michaels on 5-4. Bidding can get very high after a Michaels and its nice to know p 5-5 or better.
How about advancer being able to introduce a 4+card suit as they would after an 1 opening or make a neg double if opening gets raised?

“We play 1S-2D-2H as artificial” How do you find 4-4 fits?

Michael, i was talking about strong forcing 1 openings not any forcing bid. which any conventional rebids and responses are allowed under item 7. This by inference infers strong forcing 1 (and for that matter 1 are allowed) GCC talks in generalities, it no more says Precision than 2/1, Romex, Blue Team or any other system
