There is some question of unusual 1/1 bids being legal in Basic+.
The idea that Polish club and unusual 1 openings which were legal under GCC might not be legal under Basic + is a step backwards.

In the first case in Kansas city. there is a case with 2D a cuebid but whos meaning is a transfer to hearts. Basically ruling was opps should have asked about 2D even thought it was deemed alertable but not alerted.

As usual Kit Woolsey has a succinct opinion:
Woolsey: While North could have asked about the 2♦ call, I do not believe he is required to in order to protect himself against an unusual meaning such as this. How often have we had players say that asking a question about 2♦ tells partner that North wants a diamond lead or has some diamond support. Thus, I do not agree with the ruling to let the table
result stand because North didn't ask. East's failure to alert was improper, and North was potentially damaged from this failure to alert. I don't buy North's self-serving statement that he would have bid 2♠ had he been properly alerted. I think he would have either bid 3♦ or passed. One thing is for sure. He would not have made a natural 2♥ call. E-W have a 5-3 heart fit which the 2♦ call locates, and there is every reason to believe that E-W would have gotten to 4♥ had North not bid 2♥. Therefore, I would adjust the contract to 4♥, with whatever adjudication seems proper for that contract.

Bud- when there are discussions on Bridgewinners with 100+ responses where experts disagree I don't know how you expect the rank and file to understand when frankly they probably haven't even read the rules.

Lots of people apply for the same job they were turned down from myself including. It is relatively commonplace.
To suggest this is suspicious is paranoid.

This comparative call rules are just too complicated. I have a suggestion. Just give a 1-3 imp penalty or similar at mp for bidding out of turn and let the offender bid what they want.

If EBU really wanted to exclude weak balanced hands 7B1C should have stated so there.

Is anyone worried you will end up in 5 when 5 is making?

In standard KC you may have to decide if partner has 0/3 and 1/4. On you are proposed method you may have to decide if partner has 0/2 and 1/3. This will be significantly harder. (edit removed suits) I believe you will encounter problems even if it only bidding grands.

edit removed queens.

There are no bridge facts to discuss so I will continue with the football analogy.
So if a football player holds in good faith they shouldn't get a 15 yard penalty which costs the game. But if the defender acts in bad faith they get the 15 yard penalty?!

You are in a utopia if you think bridge events can always be decided without intervention by the director/or an appeal. Bridge has hundreds of pages of complicated rules. Are you suggesting they be thrown out? The NFL has football games decided by referees. Sure they complain about specific calls but they live with it. Why should bridge be any different?

If NS wants to know hcp range they should ask for clarification from South.

If you make a mistake I don't believe the opponents are entitled to that information until after the hand where you may have to explain your silliness.

So, East does not have to tell NS he has a one-suited hand.

Have you never bid a 3 card major?
If you have does this mean you have your 1M bids alerted for the rest of your life?
Just bridge.

Ok stupid question, as whole hand record wasn't supplied.
Isn't 3NT often 1 trick short compared to 4?
