Which dates would work? My partner and I are playing on Monday, July 25 and Tuesday, July 26. I am scheduled-off from work the whole time. Thanks.

Our unit holds annual meeting in September. However the officers are elected each year and the board members have staggering terms.

In the ABA the national officers are elected every two years (in odd numbered years). The membership as a whole gets to vote for President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. Each of the 8 Sections is headed by a Sectional Vice President so we have 8 members on the national board.

Dan Gibson did nature shows in Canada before he set up the company Solitudes. That company put out a lot of relaxing music. He lived from 1922-2006.
I take it you don't like baseball. I'm not that crazy about ice hockey.

Geoff,
Something other than this great game. Did you ever remember hearing musicians Dan Gibson and also Ian and Sylvia?

The other is a shot at membership in the American Bridge Association. This year our Summer National is Thursday, August 10 through Saturday, August 20 in Arlington, Virginia. Please cross refer to when Jackie Robinson played for the Montreal Royals in 1946. At that time Montreal had a team in the International League and was affiliated with the Brooklyn Dodgers in the National League.

Thanks.

The scoring rules were changed November 1, 1987. Only off by a year and a half.

Very few tournaments in the States are held on Mother's Day. You can check listings for both the ABA and ACBL to see them.

What would that do to the various versions of the League's McKenney race? This includes the Barry Crane Top 500 and the Richmond Trophy? Conversely, would we still have the William A Friend race and the Joyce Williams derby in the Association?

Regarding ABA nationals (only 2 per year) in order to play in the major events like the Victor Daly knockout and several others, membership is required. National dues are currently $40 per calendar year. Effective January 1 of 2017 national dues will be $50. In my area I pay local dues of $17. If you can't become a member you can play in the side games (they are stratified).

Victor Daly subsequently became an ACBL member (yes in the Washington Bridge League). However, several years prior to that they would not take his $2 check for dues back then.
Alert procedures are the same as they are in the League.
Basically in an ABA tournament your ACBL points are multiplied by 2 for the sake of bracketing. Conversely, in a knockout event at Charlottesville or Hunt Valley, your ABA points are divided by 2 and added to your ACBL points.

We're divided into 8 sections which are larger than ACBL districts. Everyone is so nice at the tournaments. There are times (this year in particular) that I refer to Orlando I and Orlando II when the NABCs or Nationals are in the same city. Last year it was New Orleans I and New Orleans II. Thank you so very much.

By the way, Greg, in addition to playing this summer's North American Bridge Championships in Washington, DC, will your schedule allow you to play the American Bridge Association's Summer National in Arlington, Virginia?
The dates are Thursday, August 11 through Saturday, August 20.

Rather than make a sloppy claim, I would steadily play the thing out.

Whatever works best for you. I need to play a solid game here in Maryland this weekend (12th straight year in the American Bridge Association). My biggest problem is making play errors that miss the overtrick, or bid on the wrong side of the table.

Isn't the cornerstone of competitive bridge not the tournament, but the club? Most members rarely play beyond the club level except for home sectionals or regionals.
