A different situation–someone needs help with sorting cards due to extreme case of arthritis. When is it correct to sort the hand before putting it away?

You're correct. It's spelled Champagne.

Same here. Did anyone misspell the Damiani cup? Not Damaini.

District 6 (all of DC, all of Virginia and most of Maryland) has 8 units. In my immediate area Maryland Bridge Association has 4 for 2016 in Baltimore and Cambridge. Washington Bridge League and Northern Virginia Bridge Association both have 4. That's 12 out of 52 weekends and doesn't include Sectional Tournaments at Clubs.

This also doesn't include Cherry Blossom or Baltimore Congress of Bridge Clubs or Mid-Atlantic Section's annual tournaments in ABA every year. It also does not include next year's Summer North American Bridge Championships in Washington, DC or ABA Summer National in Arlington, Virginia. I don't know how many novice-intermediate sectionals there are either.

I understand also–District 6 has some of the best tournament directors in the ACBL. Thanks.

What about the C G Fredd (spring) and Victor Daly (summer) knockouts in the ABA Nationals? The first day of both of those is double elimination and there's a second chance event.

This can be a problem depending how much time off from work one wants to use, and which events you and your partner are able to play. The only national event I was able to play in summer 2009 was the Senior Swiss (happened to be in Washington, DC).

What about events like the Rex Watkins Men's Pairs, the Christine Jones Women's pairs, and the Pauline Taylor Mixed Pairs, held at every American Bridge Association Summer National?

Our outgoing President George Hudson always said family trumps bridge. I won't know where those nationals will be until considerably later. We do have the Spring National in Orlando, Florida posted to the web. Check with www.ababridge.org. Thanks.

Hi Brad
Thanks for being in the well today. Will your busy schedule allow you to become a double member and play in the Victor Daly knockout in Arlington, Virginia next August? The ABA Summer National starts Thursday, August the 10th and goes through Saturday, August the 20th? No conflict with the North American Bridge Championships in Washington, DC.
Glad you did all you could for this wonderful game.

Based on your playing in the NABCs, will you be able to play your home game this fall? Good luck to you and your partners.

The format was suggested by Eric Shelton (from Atlanta). The top player in the Association is Chester Johnson from Chicago. Chester is also in CCBA (local ACBL unit).

Boye,
Thanks for all you did (and still do).
We really appreciate your paraphrasing of President Kennedy's closing remarks in his inaugural address in 1961.

Why balance for the sake of balancing? Sometimes it's nicer not to balance.

What I usually do is play the cards quickly and then claim when there are no outstanding trumps. Thanks.
