Hey Dennis,

Congratulations for all the bridge achievements so far, many more to come surely.

Two questions:

1) Who/what has had the biggest impact on you as a bridge player?

2) What more may technology and/or internet offer for bridge?

I would have thought that 3 is forcing and without an agreement would assume it.

I dont like 4 with only QJ suit. I would have bid 4 instead.

I think more bad things can happen if I bid 1. He might raise with 4 and that I hate.

In general, showing values at low level is much safer than backing in later (and you might not even have a chance to do that).

I dont think 1NT is masterminding. You just give your partner a description of your hand you think fits your hand most. Ive too many flaws for 1 (only 4, 4333, weak and soft values) and only one for 1NT(4 spades). That makes 1N suprior to 1.

Henry, if 4 shows clubs what 4 shows. I like to bid what i have, so for me 4 show some diamonds. If I have clubs, I bid 4.

It seems to me that you forgot to consider one thing. West pass strongly indicates 2+ spades for partner so your first and last example hands dont really exist.

I dont think it's an advantage this time to be able to ruff in the shorter trump that indicates to be pretty good suit (like. Vice versa i think it would work pretty well to ruff clubs with small and make side suit trics at the same time. At IMPS i would chance 4H, but at BAM ill try 3.

The key point for me in the marginal X/2 hands is the lenght in the suit. Here i've only xx so it's likely if I dbl they might pre in and if so i'm in a difficult position. Besides, if I overcall 2, they are pretty likely to compete at least 2 and I'll have another bid.

One more point is the system of the opps. In the old days this would be clear dbl because the likelyhood of opponents preempt was much smaller than today. Sometimes you need to modify your bidding depending on the opponents.

I dont like the opening, I would have definitely opened 4. Now it's pretty much a guess.

I don't quite understand why you should be bidding more than 3S when you have just invitational values and the values are not even that great (Q and QJ in your long suits). 4H is a huge overbid, 4S an overbid.

We've bid strongly but not definentely forced to game. So for me it's not forcing pass.

Im not suprisez at all that 4 was making. We're bidding strongly and still partner isn't. I would expect something about that for E who bid like that. I think p might have helped by bidding 2 not 2, but could play better so 2 was reasonable. I would blame the dbl of 4 for that result.

I cant see any reason why pass should or could be forcing. Im afraid if not agreed neither would your partner be on the same wavelenght.

If I X and partner pass most of the time. After seeing my cards, he'll upset and might misplay next board so I cannot X. Too weak for 2S so I pass.

I dislike 3H because partner will never know when it's right to raise. And they might be leading trumps because of my 3H instead of direct 4H. Im vul so I try a game. My other choice would be 3C.

Sorry for not giving enough information. As it is 2C shows competitive values. Parner asumes Hx support and 5+. Min for values are about 5+hcp.

No we had no agreement about 2N,3 or 3. So those bid would probably be some sort of natural game-trys.

Although Im min i was thinking if I should raise because of my poor herts and values outside.
