about me

I play bridge since my high school years, first in Poland (Grudziądz, Gdańsk, Warszawa) then in Canada (New Glasgow, NS; Montreal, Quebec; Ajax/Oshawa/Whitby/Toronto; Ontario). Since 1997 I direct (and occasionally play) at the Polish bridge club "Polonus" (www.blotka.over-blog.com) in Toronto. I often play online (nickname "bachor"). e-mail: andrzejk@bell.net

GAWRYS Wins Spingold
Let's acknowledge it's the Gawryś team and by chance there are two pairs that happened to be a part of the old and non-existent Monaco team, tainted/untainted, whatever! Piotr, Michał and the rest - congratulations!
Expert advice on robot-play :)
For clarity let's call it GIBridge not bridge. Who wants to spent time learning this? Myself, I am learning Wbridge5 (to me this IS bridge) and I like it!
Is there something better than BBO?
Gary, have you ever tried Wbridge5/Bridgez, no? Give it a chance, you may change your final decision :).
Toronto NABC NEW hotel. Just $149 CDN ($111-112 US) plus taxes
We're considering renting our house for the duration of the tournament starting 20th of July. There are two bedrooms (a double bed in each) and a basement apartment with a double bed as well. An ideal solution for three friendly bridge couples :). The house is located in Regal Heights ...
Improving the Seeding Process
There is one I know (I mean the rating system). MIT's Draper Bridge Club uses one for many, many years. Maybe somebody should look at it if they, of course, share the code and cooperate :). (It uses ACBLSCOR game data.)
Using brigemates for imp pairs
I'm not using BridgeMates but I have some experience with BridgeTabs (similar?). IMP scoring is not available there - but if you use ACBLSCOR you can easily switch to. On the other hand, for swiss pairs I use BridgeScorer, which is part of the package (I presume).
BZ - "People and their strange mannerisms"
Gene, aren't we talking about play and especially defensive signals? Neither knowledge of Polish nor Polish Club applies :)!
BZ - "People and their strange mannerisms"
Maybe, just maybe in this group there are some sign language users/experts that could help resolve their presumable communication system/patterns?
BZ - "People and their strange mannerisms"
If I recall correctly Jassem was commenting/analyzing their bid cards placements not body "mannierisms"
BZ - "People and their strange mannerisms"
Puczyński's statement is a huuuuuge exaggeration: One can easily find 100th, 1000th of bridge players in Poland that do not even know who BŻ are!
