Bridge Information

Favorite Bridge Memory
I have many great memories around Bridge. Probably playing against Barry Crane back in the 70s. Obviously he was a great player perhaps not the most pleasant opponent. Lol.
Bridge Accomplishments
Emerald LM. Many Regional wins. Still searching for that elusive National title.
Favorite Tournaments
Any nationals, District 7 Regionals, love the Greenville, SC tourney, cool southern town. I now play fairly exclusively in Florida Regionals.

What Might Better Look Like? - Leadership, Governance, Business Model
Steve, Clearly an outstanding contribution and well thought out piece. Thank you! In an earlier post for a relevant thread I criticized the rampant speculation and lack of creative solutions and suggestions. You have certainly underlined my point. We possess many creative, intelligent and savvy minds that hopefully can lead ...
ACBL Chief Executive Dismissed
I’m disappointed to learn that we have lost our CEO after such a short time. I know very little about what he was able to accomplish but I do know Board members who were very positive and hopeful. I am also disappointed to read the incredible amount of speculation ...
Naples Regional Relocated Due to Hurricane Irma
It's disappointing that the tournament had to be relocated, the Naples Grande was certainly an excellent site. Kudos to Jay, Shannon and Bruce for quickly finding a very acceptable option. For anyone concerned - the Naples/Ft. Myers area is rapidly getting back to normal after Hurricane Irma. Power is ...
Do you always use the stop card, even when the opponents are very unlikely to bid?
I do not believe there is a regulation requiring the use of the stop card. In fact it is my understanding that there is very serious consideration to remove it altogether. Please note that not using the stop card in no way changes the rule requiring that players hesitate approximately ...
Kansas City Parking
The easiest and most economical parking is to utilize the downtown street car which is free as I understand it. There are numerous lots within a block or so from the line which runs North/South along Main Street. The closest drop off is at Union Station about a long ...
Life Master Fee Increase
For those who would rather not receive the bulletin perhaps the ACBL could offer an opt-out option with a fee reduction of $10 or so. I can't imagine that it wouldn't result in an overall cost savings with the expense of postage, printing etc. The only negative might ...
Life Master Fee Increase
I'm never thrilled about increases, however, members do receive the Bulletin monthly. Since this works out to a bit over $3 per month it's well worth the fee. Given the difficult financial situation the ACBL is facing perhaps we should be a bit more understanding. As a former ...
Meckstroth Elected to Hall of Fame
Jeff, just another in the growing list of awards and titles. Kudos for a sterling career. To this day I am a quivering mess whenever I pick up a hand against you! Lol. You have always been a perfect gentleman and demonstrated humor and humility while maintaining your legendary killer ...
District Director Reports: Chicago, District 7
As a former District 7 member and Board member I am acquainted with all three of the above mentioned candidates. All of them are worthy of consideration, however Bob Heller definitely deserves reelection. Mr. Cassel's comments and observations are spot on. Bob is an excellent listener, is not afraid ...
RIP Bruce Reeve
It was my pleasure to have had the chance to play with Bruce as well as the opportunity to get to know him. I will definitely miss seeing him when I return to the North Carolina area. My condolences to his lovely wife Sue.
