about me
I stumbled on this wonderful site by accident. After 50 years' party bridge, I'm finally enjoying tournaments and can't wait for John Mohan's Regional at Sea. I'm humbled by the insightful commentary on this site...such elegance in play and defense...and thankful to be here. I'm a scratch golfer and always available for a round if anyone's in "the desert".

In the Well: John Kranyak
Neither vul, I hold A8, x, KT9xx, Jxxxx sitting South. The bidding: W deals and opens 1D, P, 1H, I pass, 2D, P, 6H, P, P, P. What would you lead?
Deadly defence
Noted... This is a great site and it seems to have attracted fine players. Your articles are a delight...congrats!
The anti crocodile coup
Beware the beginner who unthinkingly plays SJ (because it will win) followed by SA and SK. I say keep beginners in another section.
Deadly defence
Nice, Jeff. Two points: 1. Wouldn't the defense work as well if the DA and DK were transposed? 2. On the bidding, could S hold D AK? If so, with no indication that E has a D honor, how do you figure the odds of producing your great defense ...
