Muppet When Responder Holds 5=3 in the Majors
What if opener has 3 or 4 of the other M?
How would you bid this hand differently?
Will not have five spades when I jump to 3NT
Muppet When Responder Holds 5=3 in the Majors
Kerry: First of all I don't play Puppet, play Moppet Stayman wherein if I show five Spades then also have four hearts. Yes, finding a fit in responder’s five-card major is more important than looking for three-card support for opener's five-card suit.
Muppet When Responder Holds 5=3 in the Majors
With five Spades and three Hearts one should ONLY use Jacoby Transfer over 2NT.
Is there anything....
Unlike the rest of the planet I bid 2 Spades
Jacoby transfer followed by minor followups
Asking for shortness.
1N - 3m
Then I know of two people on the planet that play 2NT over 1NT as natural invitational :)
1N - 3m
1NT - 3 Clubs (transfer) 3 Diamonds: Pass is weak 3 Hearts, 3 Spades is game forcing with shortness. 3NT shows club shortness. 4 Diamonds is 0314. 1NT - 3 Diamonds is showing 5-5 in the majors invitational or better.
Moppet Stayman- on Second Thought
After 2NT - 3 3 - 3 or 3 does not show BOTH majors 3NT - 3 3 - 3NT 3NT is not a SMOLEN bid, has to be 3 or 3
Moppet Stayman- on Second Thought
Yes, you are correct, will not be bidding Moppet with your examples
