A Double Standard?
Barry, To answer your question succinctly yes there is a double standard. My own feeling is that a consistent set of rules rules should apply everywhere at all times unless the game is advertised as a relaxed rules game and everybody knows in advance.

Although I voted for wild horses I am having a hard time constructing a sentence that contains both the phrase "wild horses" and the phrase "unauthorized information". I would be happy to hear from anyone who can demonstrably do it.
ACBL Scheduling.
I think a tour of the Craps and Baccarat tables in Las Vegas would be very enlightening for some folk. After losing at those tables they might feel the cost of the entry to an ACBL event is quite cheap.

What's Your Plan?
I will try to find our fit first in spades and double 3C if they continue. I should have 3 defensive tricks and an opening partner should provide at least 2. Not quite a LOTT hand but I still would try for the 4-4 spade fit before converting the double.
