Motion to Vacate all NABC Placings of Anyone Ever Expelled for 10+ Years for Cheating
I would have no objection to such a motion. My concerns are more that is is something of a tempest in a teapot. While cheating is abhorrent and should be seriously, if not ruthlessly, addressed, and National titles are very big deals, this impacts a tiny handful of the players ...
Fall National and all remaining 2020 Sectionals/Regionals Cancelled
As the discussion made clear, maybe D7's announcement was premature and ill-advised. But, they did have a sanction. If the ACBL didn't want sponsors to act the way D7 did, they could have said, back in March, "All sanctions for future tournaments are suspended until further notice. If ...
Fall National and all remaining 2020 Sectionals/Regionals Cancelled
A fair concern and, no, I can't believe the tournaments had a chance of success. But, we are seeing everywhere that more and more people are saying, "I want my life back." Is that wise; likely not. But that is their decision. People have been making dangerous decisions forever--drive ...
Apologies, I will work harder to be a good ACBL representative and make no sense.
I too read Linda's comments with interest, not only because I obviously have decades of interest in and commitment to bridge, but am married to someone who not only has served as CEO of several mid-sized ($150M-$500M) companies as well as CFO of a major, national non-profit, but ...
Summer NABC Moved
1) This was posted using the account of "ACBL Official" where the profile says, "This is the official account of the American Contract Bridge League." So, whether it was hacked or a clever copy, it was fraud. Representing yourself as an official of the ACBL when you aren't is ...
Summer NABC Moved
I am just curious--how much of the time of the people at the Sioux Falls Sheraton (yes, it is open and answering their phone) or the Sheraton 800-number for reservations, that will be wasted by people who don't see the humor or remember it is April 1, will the ...
Summer NABC Moved
This appears to be an April Fools Joke which is either from or supported by members of ACBL Management. Employees are being told it is not true. If this is a joke, at this time, it is hard to believe there could be anything in worse taste. If an employee ...
An Open Letter to ACBL Unit and District Officers
1) To David Levin: My English was fine; my arithmetic, on the other hand, left a lot to be desired. I meant 159.18, I just can do multiplication any more. Thankfully we have ACBLscore for tournaments so I no longer have to matchpoint and add recaps sheets by hand ...
An Open Letter to ACBL Unit and District Officers
I am not sure why I am taking more time to research this, since some percentage of people are going to be against it no matter what information is presented. But, in the interest of full disclosure... In 2018 at Warwick, the top 2 brackets included teams down to about ...
