This might be outside the scope of this posting but what are the consequences for making a bid that is not allowed? Will there be penalties assigned or just a director telling you "don't do that"? Psyches are not allowed but seem to happen fairly consistently at tournament play.

Strong Club: Upgrading Nightmare System for ACBL Summer NABC in Toronto
I think Nightmare, or some variation is far superior to Precision. It allows you to get your suit in right away instead of opening all strong hands 1C. It also allows you to play at a lower level with a bust hand than Precision allows.

Is it possible these were the sponsors of those teams and therefore the ACBL did not want to punish them? Not that they had anything to do with the incorrect score being handed in anyway.
