Thanks for posting this, Steve. Personally, I like the idea of being part of a Bridge Winners community that is behind promoting a game we all love. Debbie and her volunteers do an amazing job.
To be fair, Marriotts are generally pretty good about this sort of thing. And there are some wonderful people in the bridge community. I like feel good stories!

Dave-- I don't remember Kit saying the silly question part, but I'm an old person and could be wrong. But I'm quite sure there isn't any "history". Debbie is a friend and our history is quite pleasant.
Many of the top women pros are quite courteous (and good friends of mine, whose company I seek and enjoy). Some, however do treat the "average" players pretty much like rif-raf (however that may be spelled) whose main purpose is to fill out a chair until the Real Players can ...
